X-Men 59 From the collection of Joe and Nadia Mannarino

15082001041o.jpghail.gif My favorite cover of the Adams run.

gossip.gif I got a couple of X-men coming back from sunny Florida in a couple of weeks.

The colors are great on that cover, those issues in the 50's and 60's are the best. Good luck on those X-Men from CGC.

  2. awesome books! thumbsup2.gif

Thanks, I was really happy with the X-Men 13. I just won an auction for a X-Men 14 ( it looked like it was going to be me or Bob Storms for a decent price but some other bidders entered the fray and drove up the cost.) Regardless, another nice book -

  3. Great pick-up, Tomega, as your copy has a beautiful white background. Steranko never was all that great with his anatomy, but his tremendous skill with creative designs and perspectives is shown really well by this cover.

Thanks, the issue was on eBay but I was in negotiation to buy it and my offer was higher then what he would have gotten on eBay. I have been looking for this for a long time. Metropolis has had a cream to off white version of it on their web site for about a year or so. I submitted two offers for it but they want only top dollar for the issue even though it has cream pages. That is why it will be there for years to come. I do not know why they bother to have "submit an offer" option because it seems they never accept an offer. I have put offers in that were 10% less and they still rejected it ( the offers were still in the 3 times guide range.) I have since bought nicer issues for less money from other dealers. Do not get me wrong, I think Vincent is one of the best in the business and a really stand up guy, but I do not understand the logic of some of their pricing sometimes. I understand the big dealer, overhead, initial investment...blah,blah, blah, but you cannot always get 4 to 5 times guide for an issue that the market does not justify that cost.

  4. That is a beautiful copy. White pages and nice cut. cloud9.gifthumbsup2.gif

This is one of the nicest copies I have ever seen. I saw a 9.6 copy once but the centering was not as good. This copy was not cheap, but I think it was worth it. The appearance of Spider-Man makes this a consistent big ticket book.

  5. I have bought from him in the past, hands down he is the worst grader I have ever run across that claims to be a professional. He happens to live not too far from me in New York and I have never seen him accurately grade any comic that he has had in any of his auctions at any time. Good rules of thumb for him is never bid on any of his auctions or bid accordingly for 5 grades less them he lists the items. I am not a dealer but I am capable of grading professionally and accurately - this guy thinks he finds 9.8's all over the place. Any true professional knows that 9.8's are extremely rare, even on new issues. People like him hurt eBay and hurt the business - run away from him.
