A few more images of classic comic book fanzines from the 1960's: Headline #1 from June 1962 – Steve Gerber's pioneering dittozine not only exudes charm, humor and excitement, it features silly Gerber illoes, a great "Little Giant" strip by Ronn Foss, and embarrassing hero creations of a young Roy Thomas! I know, it's a terrible scan ... sorry :-(

A few more images of classic comic book fanzines from the 1960's: Guts #1 The Magazine with Intestinal Fortitude from Aug 1967 – From the Gluckson brothers Rob & Jeff, I always thought this was a fantastic name for a fanzine. It's subtitle "The Magazine with Intestinal Fortitude" is way cool! The back cover features the first published artwork of Bruce Simon.

A few more images of classic comic book fanzines from the 1960's: The Collector #1 from July 1967 - The humble first issue of the long running fanzine (29 issues from 1967-1974) was published by Bill G. Wilson (future editor of Questar Magazine) at the young age of 12 years old! It was only 4 pages long and digest sized. Wilson rapidly improved his production skills and produced an incredible fanzine which showcased soon-to-be-pros like Tony Isabella, Mark Evanier, John G Fantucchio, Don Newton, Alan Hanley, John Byrne, Ken Barr, Stephen Fabian, Jim Jones, Martin L Greim, Bill Black, Don Rosa, Robert Kline and many more.

A few more images of classic comic book fanzines from the 1960's: Amateur Komix #3 from 1966 - This dittozine edited and published by Gary Acord contains Jim Starlin's very 1st piece of work ever published staring The Dolfin in "The Big Man." And here's the first published comic strip work within this issue of Amateur Komix #3 - note that he signs his name as "Jim Star" rather than Jim Starlin!

Hi there dgarthewaite! The Wrightson cover you show is not Collage #12, although you're real close. It's the cover of Rockets Blast Comicollector #86 from 1971, edited/published by the very same individual as was Collage - the late and great G.B. Love! I met the current owner of the stunning original Wrightson painting last year at OAFCon in Oklahoma City. He had bought it from GB about 20 years ago for an obscene amount of money and had no intention of ever selling it.

Here's another Buddy Saunders cover from Fighting Hero #9, this time using his alias of "Don Fowler" - Buddy was providing so many contributions, I guess he didn't want to seem like he was overextending himself. Edited by GB Love and published in 1964, the entire issue features "The Demon" strip by Saunders.

Here's another classic, Star Studded Comics #2 from Dec 1963. Published by the Texas Trio (Story Editor: Larry Herndon, Art Editor: Buddy Saunders and Contributions Editor: Howard Keltner) with a cool cover by Buddy Saunders.

How about a classic? You may think it's Alter Ego #1 from 1961, but you'd be wrong - it's actually the Biljo White reprint from 1963. Biljo took new ditto masters and re-did the entire book, redoing the contents page, hand-lettered some titles, and added color ditto to strips. Cover says "Spring 1961" in light blue color ditto and also clarifies the path of the arrow, which could barely be seen in the original AE#1!

Here's the FIRST fanzine cover ever produced with Fantucchio art, Rocket's Blast Special #5 with cover of The Guardian, Winter 1964/65. Again, printed via "mimeographic photo-stencil."

One of my favorite Fantucchio covers from Fantastic Fanzine #13, Published by Gary Groth in 1971. A full color painted cover of Fantucchio's "Mysterious Character" about to do battle with a gigantic serpent rising out of the horizon. This cover also appeared as a cover on The Washington Post Potomac Magazine, and won a prize with the Art Directors Club of Washington DC.

The Collector #10 May 1968. Published/Edited by Bill G. Wilson. Beautiful wraparound cover (full cover not shown) by Fantucchio with Flash Gordon dueling Ming the Merciless. This was the first issue of The Collector that featured Fantucchio artwork and was certainly not the last. Fantucchio continued to contribute to every issue of The Collector until it's very last issue, The Collector #29 in 1974.

From April 1966 RBCC #44, Cover illustration of The Fighting Yank, one of the few Fantucchio cover illustrations published via "mimeographic photo-stencil" whatever the hell that is!

Next UP: Panorama One, again from Bill G. Wilson, published Summer of 1971. I saw the original artwork for this piece last year - the blue and green portion of the artwork is a collage, but Fantucchio's "Mysterious Character" is actually a totally separate piece that can be moved around and repositioned! Wilson did a fantastic printing job on this piece.
