  5. conservation of pulp via leaf-casting is a widely accepted form of preservation that is not considered restoration: Leaf-casting is a conservation process developed by conservators in Eastern Europe and the U.S.S.R during the mid-1960’s. In brief, it attempts to reintegrate paper pulp into the lost areas of documents through gravity and/or suction
  6. ya it's a beautiful copy. I would trust your instincts and consider sending this copy back with a note asking the graders to point out exactly where they see the defect(s) that would knock this copy down to an 8.0. @CGC Mike what's the recourse Mike?
  7. 8.0 seems a tad harsh. at best, this copy grades out at technically an 8.5 due to the description of the size of the stains. Presents like a champ!
  8. you got white pages...be happy another blunder among many blunders...let's see what the guarantee is worth?
  9. it's likely Shores at the very least penciled the cover with a possible assist from Schomburg with inks on both #43 and #44
  10. This is clearly a Syd Shores cover, mistakenly attributed to Alex Schomburg... It's fairly obvious by the art style...figure style and background composition. The dead giveaway is the way they both drew boots...very distinctive Schomburgs' boots were almost always straight and thick in composition with the slight bend at the ankle Shores boots were mostly always layered and thin in composition Shores: SCHOMBURG: etc...
  11. There's hardly a debate to made made...Alex Ross is the most recognizable comic book cover artist currently working in the field today. The question is not just about skill, style or likeability. His work will stand the test of time and he will be remembered for being an innovator that paved the way for an entire generation of artists that create in his style.
