  1. This thread is now re-opened!!!  Please see the first three posts, including the recap, for updates...if you haven't already.

A couple changes/additions: since there are some high-priced stuff recently listed (most on this page), I may be reluctant to accept PayPal at all.  Please PM me first before grabbing something and we'll discuss it.  I'm tired of PayPal's B.S. and I'm in the process of paying off and closing my account.  I don't need the tax hassle either, since I've already filed this year.  They haven't nailed me yet, and I'm not going to let them. :)

Unfortunately, I will not accept 'time' payments for anything.  Once this thread has run its course, I will shut it down and stop visiting these forums.  I don't want anything hanging out after the fact, if you catch my drift. :)

Again, reasonable offers will be entertained.  Send me a PM with any questions, concerns, comments, etc.  Have fun!!!

  2. X-Men #50 (1996). This issue is the Speckle Foil Edition, with a wrap-around cover. The story features the 1st appearance of Post, as well as a cameo by Onslaught. The comic is signed by Stan Lee, Scott Lobdell, and Andy Kubert.

    CGC SS 9.8, White Pages.

    $475 shipped/insured (or best offer)

  3. Spectacular Spider-Man #229 (direct).  This copy has the acetate outer cover, and it features Spider-Man quitting his Spidey job.  It is signed by Bill Sienkiewicz.

9.8 CGC SS, White Pages.  A few things to note: one, it is the old style CGC encapsulation, which some collectors like; two, this slab has been around awhile, and both seals on the long sides of the case have popped (see photos).  The comic is still secure in the inner well, even though there are a few small Newton Rings inside.  But hey, you should be buying the comic, not the case. :)

The last sale for this as in 2017, per GPA.  Reasonable offers will be entertained.

    $125 shipped/insured (or best offer)

  4. Happy! #3 (Image Comics).  This is part of a 4-issue limited series that was adapted into a television series on the SyFy channel back in 2019.  It was cancelled after two seasons.  I don't have #1 or #4 any more.

    CGC 9.4, White Pages.

This comic, and the previous one, are from my early days of having comics graded.  I didn't know how things worked back then, and I also wasn't familiar with cleaning/pressing comics.  I'm not saying a clean/press would help either of these comics, but they are an epic fail in regards to cost and value. :(

I will offer this slab for free with any purchase (limit one per order), or as priced below. :)

  5. Happy! #2 (Image Comics).  This is part of a 4-issue limited series that was adapted into a television series on the SyFy channel back in 2019.  It was cancelled after two seasons.  I don't have #1 or #4 any more.

    CGC 9.4, White Pages.

  6. Fables #1, 25c Special Edition (2006)(reprint). The comic is signed by Steve Leialoha, and it contains a preview of '1001 Nights of Snowfall'. This issue is a reprint of Fables #1 from 2002.

CGC SS 9.8, White Pages (old-school slab). There are no Newton Rings, but there are some light cosmetic scratches/scuffs on either side.

An unsigned copy of this one sold for $270 back in 2021.  I will entertain reasonable offers. :)

  7. Detective Comics #1000, Third Eye Comics variant. The cover was done by Kaare Andrews, and there were only 2500 copies produced. This issue features the 1st appearance of Arkham Knight.

CGC 9.9, White Pages. You can see the blot of Newton Rings on the front, and none in the back. This is one I couldn't fix because the slab is deeper and sealed well. The white 'bit' on the back isn't a scratch, but a bit of paper that I've removed since the photo was taken.

At the time of this post, only 29 copies of this variant are graded, and only 2 are a 9.9. My copy was the first 9.9 graded. :)

  8. I can't remember if I've tried to sell this item here on the boards or not.  If not, then it's a one time sale before I stop contributing to these forums.  If it doesn't sell, it goes off-site for permanent storage. :)

Only 10,000 of this item were produced, but only 250 were graded by CGC...48 are a 10.0 (as of listing date).  I don't know how many of those 48 have the 'First Release' designation though, which this one does have. :)

New Zealand Mint silver foil replica cover of DC Comics Detective Comics #27 [nn]

The .999 fine silver foil replica is certified and graded as a First Release by CGC, a 10.0 Mint. The 'First Release' means that it was graded within 30 days of New Zealand Mint releasing these replicas.  This 35g fine silver collectible was presented in an acrylic holder (included) designed to frame the foil and allow for easy display. Packaged inside a complementary carrier (included), the item was carefully removed by CGC and placed into a slab after grading.

There aren't any Newton Rings, and I see very little in the way of cosmetic scuffs/scratches. The carrier that the foil cover arrived in is in great shape and intact.

Per GPA, the highest sale for one of these was $1900 back in 2020.  A more recent high dollar sale was for $1400 in December 2023.  I will entertain reasonable offers. :)

Because I'm leaving the forums for good soon, I will not accept time payments for this slab.  Also, I will NOT accept PayPal for this item either.  Only a cashier's check or money order will be accepted.  I won't use any other form of electronic payment either, so please don't ask.

  9. Casanova #1 (Image Comics, 2006).  The comic is signed by Matt Fraction.

CGC 9.8, White Pages.  This is the older slab style, with some light wear and tear.  Unfortunately, there is a small scratch (deep) or crack on the front as shown in the photo.  Otherwise, the slab is solid. :)

There isn't any sales data for a signed copy, but I'm keeping the price reasonable because of the defect stated previously.

  10. Even though this thread is currently closed, I am revamping the entire thread in order to reopen it for one final sales thread before I leave the forums for good.  I'm reworking the listings AND the recap.  If you wanna, you can check the first two posts, which have been updated.

I should be finished with the revamp in a few days, then I'll open the thread for about a week or so. :)

  11. This whole 'Hide' option nonsense is the last straw for me.  I've seen what other sellers' threads look like when they can't hide listings that sold, which in my opinion keeps the sales thread looking tidy.  Now sellers either 'edit' a listing to show it's been sold, or they remove the listing by typing in a word, i.e. 'Removed'.  I prefer to hide stuff so that the thread stays short and tidy-looking, but that's me.

I've decided I will no longer sell anything here after one more go with my CGC slabs.  Once that sales thread ends, I'll be walking away.  After stepping away from the boards for about 5/6 months a while back, nothing has changed in the 10 months I've been back.  I've got better things to do, and I don't need the aggravation anymore. :(

Thanks for all your hard work, Mike.  You're pretty much battling a brick wall concerning CGC I.T. and those jack-holes at Invision.  I wish you all the best.  I wouldn't want your job for all the comics in the world....except maybe a raw, mid-grade copy of TEC #27. :)
