  1. Same here. I just find it incredible how much this book has shot up in value over the past year. The same goes for GSX1 and X-Men 94 which, fortunately, I also have copies of. Seems like I've really lucked out with key X-Men books!
  2. Ha! I was already an adult by the time I bought X-Men 1 but I get what you're saying. I got my copy about 6 years ago for $1500. I didn't tell my parents at the time how much I paid for it but after seeing what copies in a similar grade to mine are going for now, I'm certainly not complaining and neither are they!
  3. Hi all, I haven't posted on this forum for quite a few years now but I got talking with my father last night about collectables and mentioned my copy of X-Men 1 to him and I was wondering what the current market is for this book. Having looked through this thread, it seems to be one of the hot Silver Age books right now. I'm so glad I got my copy when I did as I'd never afford even a low grade copy nowadays. I've also realised that I've never posted a picture of my copy in this thread so here it is:
  4. Though I like that idea, I live in the UK and the cost of getting the raw copy slabbed and then having it shipped back to me is too prohibitive at this time. As I said in my original post, I need to raise some cash and I need to figure out which one of my Hulk 181s do I sell in order to get some decent coin.
  5. No, It doesn't have any particular sentimental value for me. I'm guessing that a raw 4.0 is currently going for $800 and a CGC SS in the same grade for $900 though I could be way off with that.
  6. Well, I wasn't sure which sub-forum to post my query in so I chose the main one since it has the most views/responses. I can post it in the Bronze forum if people think it should be there instead.
  7. OK, here's the situation. I need to raise some cash and I am lucky enough to have two copies of Hulk 181. I don't really need to have two copies of the same book so I'm quite happy to let one go. The problem is that I'm not sure which one to sell. One of these is a CGC 4.0 signed by Herb Trimpe while the other is a raw 4.0. My gut tells me to sell the raw copy and keep the slabbed one as that has the added value from Trimpe's signature and also being graded by CGC. Obviously, going with that option means that I can't read the slabbed copy but I'm sure that there must be a cheap reprint that I can use as a reading copy. Any suggestions as to what I should do?
