Im reading the newspaper now..What are you talking about??
Mark represents at least one of the GIs involved with the Haditha (Iraq) incident. Charges were brought against them today.

Sorry, didn't want to take it out of the bag when I scanned it:
OK, so is this the variant because it is a newstand copy without the 50-cent logo? I now have in my possession a copy of Avengers #77 newstand that has the 50-cent logo! Which is normal, which is the error?
The 50-cent logo cover is the normal cover for both the Direct and Newsstand editions. Without is the variant.

You can learn more about happy endings from an asian massage parlor than from a book, trust
Does it have anything to do with flogging?
-
People that buy readily available books for that kind of multiple of guide are going to have a hard time re-couping that investment when it comes time for them to sell in a few years. They are going to want more than they paid, which anyone would, which in turn will turn off future collectors also.
Who is to say this isn't happening already?
-
Cool! I wonder who painted it for him.
It's crayon

First, I can't believe anybody would be ragging on Steve Carey.
He scans his books for us to see by volume. Nuff said.
Second, the books he was looking to sell to some BSD's are no-nonsense top-caliber.
But yet some still want to question the quality of said books.
THE BOOKS HE WAS LOOKING TO SELL WERE CONSISTENT IN QUALITY WITH HIS PERSONAL COLLECTION.
I would like to know if Ciorac is feeling particularly whole after recieving "chipped down the side Marvel keys" in exchange for his Bob Kane Batman painting, a crazy valuable piece?
7-day exchange/return policy? Maybe not this time? Hearing this made me angry at work thinking about this and it wasn't even my painting.
Carey is TOPS in my book.
I think shipping alone on the painting was hundreds of dollars. It was huge. I still feel I got the short end of the stick on that deal, because I did. But it was a long time ago and I don't dwell on it. The other thread about this topic reminded me of it and I shared my experience.
At least I still have a picture of it.....
That is absolutely beautiful

FYI, West at CGC has just notified me that the Adventure 60 I sincerely believed had some minor resto (gloss and seal) was resubmitted and came back Blue. I believe in full disclosure whether I'm right or I'm wrong, and in this particular instance, CGC says I was in error.
My apologies to Dave for including this book in the rest of the discussion.
You can't capitulate so easily just because CGC said it wasn't restored! You have to start a new thread making wild allegations about the Anderson-CGC conspiracy! It's the way things are done on these here General Forums!
Nah, take it to the Golden Age forum. They need something exciting down there to wake up those doddering old fogies

Just for you Bob, a few to write for your next show…
1: potential buyer:
"you want $500?, that's too much!… GPA shows the last 2 sales at $350 and $397"
1: reply: (real info, not BS... gotta put in the time)
"yeah, I saw those sales. The first copy had Cream to OW pages though and the seller only had 31 feedbacks, didn't accept paypal and was shipping from Iraq… the other was from a reputable US seller, but the scan was small perhaps trying to underemphasize what appeared to be a noticeable angle miswrap.
1: potential buyer:
"..................?!......uh..., h mmmm, you gotta point... h mmm... $495?"
2: potential buyer:
"you want $500?, that's too much!… GPA shows the last 2 sales at $350 and $397. I saw those sales and both books were white pagers and nicely centered."
2: reply:
"yeah, I saw those sales too. Nice books... I see you didn't bid though. How do you know what the winner's high bid was? Maybe it was $525. If you did bid, the book would have went higher… right? What if there were 2-3 of you out there, very interested but didn't/couldn't bid for one reason or another? If the seller ended the auction so all 3 time zones could bid perhaps 1 or 2 other interested parties could have pushed that baby up to $600... Just curious, why didn't you bid since you're in the market for the book?"
2: potential buyer:
"........... $495? dammit!"
-
Are you assuming everyone uses GPA?

Mark.....in case you haven't noticed....the childish behavior and name calling you mentioned is going on between the major collectors and the dealers. At least, that's how I'm reading this.

Would anyone pay for the opportunity to see it? You know, sort of like they're doing for the King Tut exhibit? It could be a travelling show and you'd pay $5 to see it, $25 to have your picture taken next to it, $100 to have tea and crumpets in the general vicinty, $1,000 to have a drink next to it while conversing with Mr. Anderson, and maybe $5,000 to actually hold it. Well, it would only be to hold the apparatus that is securing the holder of the comic. But you get the idea.
And a souvenir shop... with T-shirts?
Hey FFB, do you have one of these shirts?

Not often you get to see BSDs airing their dirty laundry.

Here is an Avengers hardcover trade from Great Britain, put out by World Distributors in 1975. It reprints a few Avengers stories from the early 100s, a Cap issue, and has a few cool pinups. Picked it up from Motor City Comics in 2003, having never seen it before or since anywhere else.
