  1. Good luck to you guys placing orders, I hope you get what you ordered. Fortunately for me, Midtown comics is my local shop and I can be there at the 8am open, and since I don't need more than 1 or 2 copies, I should be good as long as they don't do 1 per customer. Heck, I'll just walk 20 minutes cross town from the Grand Central Midtown to the Time Square Midtown should that be the case.

Just checked my order and it's at 10 but it won't allow me to edit the #. I'm sure as the release date gets closer they will dwindle that # down to 1.

  2. Honestly ZaCrew and Krighton, this is truth. It's not like people who've voiced a different opinion don't still read this thread and care about this book. As stated, even though I disagree as to why it's currently hot, doesn't mean I don't want it to be. The repeated backhanded comments are just asking for a response. You call it raining on a parade...I call it doing a rain-dance......you're gonna get wet. :)

This is why I was asking several pages back about what others who frequent comic stores have bee hearing.

I don't remember seeing a Bleeding Cool article, or other large internet source, saying anything about MD.

Is there a general buzz at the comic shop? If not, how are people hearing about it?

I think there was either a bleeding cool article or image article showing the ottley variant 3 or 4 days before the deadline to order #1. Ottley variants were available for almost 2 weeks after release. I remember I posted a link to midtown showing they were still available.

  3. .I do not know of anyone on there that shills in the comic forum.
I'm not one to cast aspersions. There is no evidence that anyone on either board shilled the auctions, but I presume that shilling auctions would not be discussed in the open on either board.

I would "assume" you would be correct in that shilling is not discussed openly in forums. I was just responding to CBT's "odds" that the shilling would be from BOC. I gave my opinion that the odds would be higher on cgc forums due to the higher population of comic "collectors" on the cgc forums.

It's not blaming anyone or forum...just saying the odds would be higher since the target audience for comics would be from this forum.

  4.

CBT, just curious, do you read or collect comics?

cujobyte, just curious, what do you think the odds are that the crew shilling up the price on MD are on the BlowoutCards forum??

I'm on BOC and on here as well...I do not know of anyone on there that shills in the comic forum. It's a different atmosphere over there because it's a card forum 1st and foremost and (like me) there are members who love comics as well.

It's easy to point the finger at them but it's just as easy on here...this forum would attract a bigger population since it's a comic forum. There a ton of lurkers on here and members who do not post often...they could be the ones shilling as well. I would say the odds are much higher that it's someone from cgc forums shilling the auctions than BOC.

  5. There is another one currently at $305: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MANIFEST-DESTINY-1-CGC-9-8-LBCC-Sketch-Variant-LONG-BEACH-ONLY-250-1210657003-/281276161539?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item417d5d9e03

    Is this one being shilled?

I also think that the sales of the LBCC are helping drive the regular and ottley #1 issues. Without $300+ sales then people probably wouldn't be looking to buy the regular covers for $25 each. Of course this is only my opinion as I'm holding onto my copies until I get Ottley to sign some.

  6. Are people who bid to be part of the action considered shills.....if they have no intention of bidding high enough to win. I know quite a few will toss a bid into the mix just for fun.

Or is it only considered a shill if you know the seller.

I bid on your LBCC 9.8 because I wanted to win it...well I had hoped to win it. I put a max bid of $250...never thought I would have gotten it for what I did. I don't really "know" you but I knew it was your book...but I know I wasn't shilling it either!
