I would definitely at least catalog the collection, create a list of the comics and then go from there for the few hours you might have to spend going through the titles and issues it might be worth it to post the list here and see what comics stand out to the community here and then that can at least give you and idea of what to research and have checked out and/or take pics of. Also the list will help prevent you from getting ripped off if you use a comic shop or sell the entire collection etc.. Sorry for your loss as well. all the best!

Hi All, I have recently purchased ASM 2 and 3 and there is some tape on the inside cover 2 pieces on ASM 2 and a hole that looks suspect of a fill probably with Japan paper on the back cover of ASM 3. my first question is since i'll be sending this in to grade and would like blue labels would it be best to submit them through restoration removal to remove that small hole in the back cover as its the back cover I can live with a hole as the comic has chipping on the front cover. and Does 2 pieces of tape count as restoration? and or should I submit them for grading and see how they come back before re sending if needed to have the restoration removal? Hi All, Thanks for all the help and advice. I was able to take home the 2 books plus some others in a multiple comic deal that I feel is fair. after inspecting them closely I would put them more towards the 2.0 range. I'll try to get some better pictures up soon of what I found. I was able to get 2 copies of ASM #2, ASM #3, ASM #6, ASM #9 ASM #2 - detached cover at bottom, spine split (2.0) grade probably ASM #2 (second copy) - had two pieces of tape on inside cover not near the spine and Cover not detached (2.5) - not sure what CGC policy on tape is. (would it be considered resto) - ASM #3 - spine split bottom of cover detached, back cover had a hole that looks filled a I saw the fuzzy on the hole is about .5" width and 0.25" high (might consider that getting removed) so I don't get Purple label (2.0) ASM #6 - normal wear and tear no spine splits, no detach, no tears, no colour touch detected (3.0) ASM #9 - spine split bottom cover detached, no resto seen (2.5) all five books 3800 Cad. (2660US) I think that's a good deal as I wont get killed with ebay with the fees, import charges etc..(lives in Toronto Ontario Canada) - I also gave the books a conservative assessment for the grade, I guess we will see what CGC says as I will send these down to CGC later on. I will try to get better pics but I really don't want to open up the comics to often as not to damage them further or cause the spine split to increase. If anyone has any advice about how to get the highest grade or any tips before sending them to CGC please let me know. Most of this will be going to my collection to try to finish a 1-10 ASM run. I need #4,#5, #7 and #10

unfortunately no I will be going to see them personally and I have read the forum about how to spot restoration, the seller is saying he believes the grade to be gd/vg so 3.0 about I believe.

Hi everyone first time posting and I have a question about my ASM 1 that came back last year as a 2.5 ss Stan lee with restoration when I looked at the book I didn’t notice it but guess it’s there i paid the 10$ for the graders notes I’ve never pressed the book was considering pressing and trying to remove the restoration. any suggestions, tips or advice on what I should or shouldn’t do and how to go about these things?
