  1. I just bought a CBCS 9.6 graded modern book, but I'm toying with the idea of sending it to CGC. I don't think there's anything wrong with CBCS, I just have all my books graded by CGC. I'm looking for opinions by the seasoned collectors if this is a move worth taking. I don't know if CGC tends to grade higher or lower than CBCS on average, and it does frighten me to think that my CBCS 9.6 might become a CGC 9.4. The book is a Wolverine 1 Deadpool J. Scott Campbell variant. Any advice/opinions would be appreciated.
  2. I hoping that I can return it and get a refund. I'll contact the seller and see...
  3. Thanks for the welcomes! Jayman- bronze, copper and modern. Books I remember lusting over when I was kid.
  4. Yeah, I'm having a hard time believing they would give it a 9.9 with spine corners not completely square. My suspicion is this happened when it was reholdered.
  5. I just received this book from a seller on ebay. I've never owned a CGC 9.9 graded book, but the flaws I observed has given me doubts as to the authenticity of the grading. The spine of the book has some color breaks and the corners of the spine are not square. The serial number checks out, however, the date of grading is July of 2000, and this is on a relatively recent universal blue label (year 2006+). I chalked this up to it having been sent it for a reholder service at some point. The holder appears to be intact with no apparent signs of tampering...Please judge for yourself. Either I'm being too critical, the CGC graders were smoking some good mess when they graded this, or this isn't a legit CGC graded book... Deleted photos because the seller and I worked it out.
  6. Hello all! I'm 33 years old, I live in San Francisco and I've been collecting comics off and on since grammar school. I've been on a 10+ year hiatus from collecting until I had one too many drinks a couple nights ago and bought $6k worth of slabbed books on ebay. I usually don't have any issues controlling my impulses, not sure what came over me. Perhaps I was trying to foolishly make up for 10 years of not collecting books. At any rate, I'm here as a newbie and look forward to learning from you all. Cheers!
