LOVE Perez...never had the pleasure of meeting him, but I've heard he is the nicest guy in the biz (or one of them).
George Perez is awesome. Incredibly gracious.

I heard a story about Barry (WINDSOR) Smith openly laughing and mocking a portfolio of some poor guy at a con....
anyone ever witness something like this?
Before I opened this thread I automatically thought of my interaction with BWS, and lo and behold, your post was about him as well. I have met a ton of creators in my life, and he was hands down the biggest horse's I have come into contact with.
It was at Heroes Con about 25 years ago and there weren't any other attendees at his table. He had a sign on his table that stated he would sign 3 books only, which is not a problem with me. I walked up with my 3 books and stood there as he had a conversation with someone to his right, (another creator). I waited, and I waited, and he continued to ignore me. I was patient and chose to not be rude by attempting to interrupt him by saying hello. He had not yet looked at me, but then spoke in my direction without looking in my direction. He said "I will sign 3 books and 3 books only." He had not looked to see that I had 3 books on the table. He pulled the books over, while continuing his conversation with the other creator, his head still turned to the right. He signed the 3 books and did not try to make eye contact with me...did not speak to me, acted like I was not even there. Once they were signed he put down his marker and continued his conversation. I had to reach over and get the books myself. He did not look at me once.
Let me just say that I no longer own the books as I could care less.
Most creators are truly grateful and considerate of their fans, but BWS truly feels he is above his.

My contributions.
Thought it would be cool to compare to the art.
Wow...just...wow.
I was ecstatic to get the highest graded copy....I would blow a gasket if I owned the original art.
Thanks for sharing it!

This joined the other Spokane's thanks to Mr Bedrock

A beautiful 8.0. I am glad I owned it for awhile. Glad it went to a good home.

Relieved to see they made it in one piece, but sad at the same time. Glad they went to a good home Richie.

Ok....that frikkin rocked. Seriously.

Heading to see Cap in a couple of hours...will give my opinion soon thereafter.
-
Bullwinkle # 1. Only 9.6 in the census and the highest graded copy.
-
Nice early Rocky. Only 9.6 in the census....and highest graded copy.
-
Mr. Ed #1. Very nice page quality on the next 3 File copies. CGC usually hammers Dells....but these are exceptional copies...so I feel they got it right.
This is the only 9.6 on the census...and has one 9.8 in front of it.

4 from the vault. I did not re - up in the Society this year...so I needed to use my last cert before it expired. The books arrived yesterday, and I did not know the grades until I pulled them out of the box. Have to say I was pleased. I did not feel like pulling out the scanner, so I took some pics with my phone.

Thanks for taking the tour!

I wanted to try and keep the room as clean as possible, so no short boxes. They are all in another closet. This holds my remaining slabs and the bottom basket has my best remaining raw books. Four years ago, the amount of slabs would have been 5 times as many. I have moved a lot of books.

My Walking Dead 22, CSS 22 homage, created by our very own Karl Janot.
-
Concert poster from the Continental Club back in Austin, signed by my buddy Stuart Daniel Baker....otherwise known as Unknown Hinson. Some of you may know him as the voice of Early Cuyler on Squidbillies. Various SW figures.
-
My Bill Sienkiewicz CSS 22 cover re-creation.
-
There are about 160 packaged Star Wars figures in the drawers...all from the mid 90's to around 2003. Not worth much, but I like them. I cracked a few to display on top.
-
Various Looney Tunes glasses from the 70's, an old Lance cracker container that belonged to my Grandfather, my portfolio of "stuff", such as a signed photo of Reds HOF'er Tony Perez, a signed photo of Doug Jones in his Pale Man garb, and my letter from President Bill Clinton, who I met twice back in the day. Also, my Al Williamson sketch. Loved Al.
Close up of Al's sketch. It is Flash Gordon, fighing a Martian giant, complete with scantily clad female and sleek rocket ship.
Books in the bottom. My wife picked up the "Our Call To Arms" for me when she did the Honolulu Marathon back on 2002. She bought it at the Arizona Memorial and it is signed by two Pearl Harbor combatants/survivors. The cookie jar is vintage and was in my house growing up.
More books. I am a pop culture junkie. The books in the magazine bags are the 12 EC Classics from the late 80's. A few of these are signed by Al. The two books between the Munsters and Far Side book are Volume 1 and 2 of Korgi, by our own Christian Slade. They are signed and sketched inside. Christian is a friend who has been to my home and I am proud to have them.

Original 60's Ben Cooper Secret Squirrel Halloween costume MIB, Meadow Morn Elf, still sealed, that I bought for my wife. She had one when she was a girl. Atom Ant Soaky, the foul ball that I caught at a Cincinnati Reds/San Fran Giants game back in 93. Darren Lewis of the Giants hit it. It is sitting on a towel that I had signed by former Longhorn and Olympian Cat Osterman back when I lived in Austin.
-
MIB Dark Shadows game in the back, Avon Charlie Brown baseball Soaky, still filled and MIB. A little art glass bear my wife bought for me, glass decanter, I believe from a pharmacy, that belonged to my grandfather, Andy Panda 8mm cartoon MIB, my original Mattel Football 2 that I had as a kid...and still play with.

Thank everyone. It is most appreciated. Here are some more photos.
The lamb is a vintage toy from the 50's that we bought for our first daughter before she was born. The Fat Albert lunchbox is mine from the First Grade. The Sherlock/Watson card is vintage. The stone is from the River Avoca at the Meeting of the Waters in County Wicklow, Ireland. The river was made famous by Thomas Moore. The bottle is a Cheerwine soft drink bottle from the 40's. I used to work for Cheerwine when I lived in NC. The rabbit is another vintage 50's toy that was bought at the same time as the lamb. The box that it is sitting on is a Cuban cigar box that I picked up in Jamaica. The little speck is a cut out art spider that my youngest drew in order to scare her old man. I loved it.
My name shot glass, MIB Rolls Royce Matchbox car. Had one just like it when I was little.
Anyone seen a creator be a jerk?

Some of the nicest creators I have ever met are:
George Evans
Dave Stevens
Bill Gaines
Archie Goodwin
Too bad none of them are still around as they were all awesome to talk to.
