  1. Thanks! I am trying to figure out my old collection for sure. I have a lot of learning to do 🙂
  2. The Amazing Spider-Man #6. Inside is intact, no folds, stains, writing or tears. This was purchased 35+ years ago at a used book store, and the price is marked lightly in pencil on the bottom right of the first page ($20), but that’s all the writing that I see. No folds, stains or writing on the front or back covers, but you can see light vertical browning on the right side of the front cover. Staples are tight and intact with no tears. A little chipping as you can see from the pics. Some light spine wear. I'm curious what everyone things about the grade. Thoughts?
  3. Fantastic Four #29. Inside is intact, no folds, stains, writing or tears. No folds, stains or writing on the front or back covers. Staples are tight and intact with no tears. A little chipping along the spine as you can see from the pics, but it is intact with no tears. Top right corner has a tiny tic. I'm curious what everyone things about the grade, and I’m thinking it could benefit from a cleaning and maybe pressing. Your thoughts?
  4. I appreciate everyone's input. I bought this at a used book store years ago, and it doesn't show any evidence that it's ever been read. The price is lightly written in pencil on the bottom right of the first page. The back cover has three tiny horizontal creases that I'm sure came from the printer (are these called bindery creases?). How much does that typically impact the grade when on the back cover? Not sure if cleaning or pressing are needed. Not picking up on any other nit-pics. Thoughts?
  5. Yeah, that has me stumped. It's only on the inside front and back and doesn't bleed through. I can't figure it out.
  6. Thanks, comicginger. You may be right based on that sample. I think some, but not all, of the spine wear on my book may be due to glare. I'm a newbie and need to get a more properly balanced lighting situation. Plus, my new scanner is making things appear darker, and I hesitate to adjust it in editing so as to not bias everyone's opinions unfairly. The brownish color in the white area of the cover scan is definitely not anything visible to the naked eye, so I'm not sure if it's just too much pressure from the scanner cover or what. I may just switch to camera-only posts since those seem to be more realistic in my limited experience.
  7. Pictures should say it all. Split spine at the bottom left and 1/4 x 1/2 inch missing piece from bottom left cover. Inside everything is intact with no folds or tears. In a couple of places there is a light large "C" drawn on inside front and back covers, but the writing doesn't go through the page. Not sure what it could be and it doesn't interfere with the story. News stand ink stamp on cover between the L and K of Hulk.
  8. Pictures should show the condition well enough. Could use a cleaning and pressing. There's an 1/8" tear on right cover in the black ink area. Bottom two corners are dinged a bit. Top 3/8" of left cover is separated as picture shows, but lays flat. A few spine ticks. Inside is in nice condition with no stains, tears, folds. One of my childhood books, so I may get it slabbed for the heck of it. What do you think?
  9. Tiny 1/4 inch long blemish on spine by Jokers extended hand you can see in photo. Inside is intact. Staples are tight. No folds, color breaks or tears. Tiny fine red line running vertically through the DC badge on cover, which you can see from the photo. Looks like something that happened during the printing, but I didn't notice it until I took the close-up picture. Back is white, as are inside covers. Thoughts?
  10. This rookie appreciates your help! ! My first post here, and I just selected my Avengers #2 from my childhood collection to see what you think. I'm beginning my journey to learn grading, so I'll pick up the terminology. I'm using a new scanner for the first time, so until I can figure it out, the images seem a bit darker than they are in person. Staples are tight, but slight tear on top staple where it joins with the cover. Nothing is missing or clipped, and no writing. No page folds. Looks like a small water mark by the wasp's wing, but that's the only blemish I can detect. The top of the cover has a tiny rollover as the picture shows (not sure of the term, but there's no fold or color break and no chips missing). I believe the colors are pretty good for the age. I think it could benefit from a pressing/cleaning. Thanks for any suggestions!
