  1. HI Jennifer, I was able to reach the accounting dept Monday and was informed of the credit on my account. But also when I discussed the matter with a customer service rep, they also found it 'weird' that the credit was not applied to a submission earlier this year which I stated in the initial message. Also, is customer service no longer reachable via phone? Not leaving a message, but actually talking to someone?
  2. Hi, I called CGC yesterday and got a hold of a customer service representative but called today and now there's only an option to leave a message (to reach customer service)? The reason for the phone call was to ask about filling out the online submission form. My account has credit for CCS pressings but when filling out the form and getting to the credit card information, there doesn't seem to be a way to apply that credit. The representative mentioned the credit should 'automatically' be applied. However, that credit was earned last year but even though there was a submission earlier this year, the credit was not applied. So when filling out the submission form and the credit card information, is the full amount charged? How (and when) can the credit be applied? Thanks, -vince
  3. Confusion is correct. After having been instructed by CGC to remove the poly-bag only to have it signed and graded as NOT a poly-bagged edition, i contacted customer support and actually talked to the initial person who instructed me to remove the bag (before submitting). He sent a shipping label to send it back. But now I get another email from their Receiving department saying they confirmed with their graders and verification team that the book is not the poly-bagged edition. They will send it back with no modifications to the label... So frustrating!
  4. I think they were facilitators... Desert Wind for CGC and Genuine COA for CBCS. Thought about trying Desert Wind but read far too many unfortunate stories.
  5. Just wondering if there are any facilitators for the Washington State Summer Con? Looks like a good starting list of creators: Kevin Eastman, Peter David, Bob Layton, Gerry Conway, Marv Wolfman. Went there last year (first time) and had a fun time. Steranko, Neal Adams, Jim Lee, Scott Williams, Chris Claremont, Roy Thomas, plus others were there. Was a little surprised CGC didn't have a booth considering how much cheaper it was than ECCC, and there were still a good share of dealers.
  6. Still probably going to keep it, for the personal collection; just wasn't sure about submitting... Thanks!
  7. Hello, So I found a copy of Daredevil 7 at a garage sale a few months ago, only to find that it's missing the pinup (just today... sigh). Am I correct that if submitted for grading, it'll get the a qualified label? TIA!
  8. I'm curious myself... Preferably, I don't want the 'poly-bag removed' comment, especially when someone at CGC replied saying to remove it and keep it with me, when submitting.
  9. I was concerned about the holidays and delivery times. So I sent it via USPS Priority Express 12/3, delivered and received/entered into CGC 12/4. Yea it was a heftier price and lesson learned; don't procrastinate! Interesting thing, though, is that because the delivery did not meet the guaranteed time, it qualifies for a full refund. Fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone!
  10. I'm late to this conversation, but has the marker ink color question been answered? Never having done the window bags before, I watched some videos and it's suggested you can request it in writing on the painters/masking tape? Not sure if TM does that... With that said, I don't think I'm the only one debating which issues to submit. So far I think I'm submitting a couple of copies of Spawn #1, and the polybagged versions of Spider-Man #1 (1990), green and silver, as I don't think my gold issue would get higher than a 9.4. But wanted to ask the good community here, would any of you substitute 8.5(ish) copies of ASM 298 or 316 or a 9.6+ Spawn 300 (the 1:50 incentive issue)? I'm planning to press my entire submission but still.... always a crapshoot.
  11. Thank you everyone for all your replies. Very helpful! Still debating to submit the polybagged issues but likely, since my ASM 298, 301, 316 copies seem to have more flaws, and my ASM 300 and Hulk 340 were signed before CGC got started...
  12. What?? I have never heard of that. Well, that's a downer! Is there any typical damage, or common indicators on what to look for? I bought these copies after they came out but put them in another bag (and board) and have stayed since; until just taking them out now for this private signing. I'm also trying to contact them and see if the graders can differentiate between the bagged and unbagged 'green' covers. They almost look identical. The webbing and the top left corner are 'slightly' different shades of color but not sure if that could be the printer ink running out? With all these variants, I'd hate to see a variant be mistaken for another. Man I am bummed about reading long term storage 'heat seal damage'!
  13. Thanks Ladic. I understand CGC won't slab a factory polybagged issue, and they (if not you) will remove the polybag for grading but was more curious about this title/issue in particular. I should have been more specific and was referring to the variants of 1990 Spider-Man vol 1. At least one of every variant is slabbed. No problem there, but wasn't sure if there was a particular reason why the there are more unbagged variants that are graded, vs the polybagged (variants)/slabbed. And of those polybagged variants, very few are signed. Example: you can still buy a copy of the $2 polybagged silver ink/black cover. $30 on Amazon or $27 at mycomicshop.com. For this variant, there are only 153 signed and graded, but the unbagged black/silver cover have over 1800 signed/graded. Maybe I'm just over thinking it. Wasn't sure if there was some glaring reason why, if any, these variants should not be graded or signed... or?
  14. Hi, With the recent announcement of Todd McFarlane's private signing, pretty sure lots of people are looking through their collections to submit. And I'm one of them, lol. Was looking at the census for 1990 Spider-Man #1 and noticed there are very few graded polybagged versions, and even less signed. Besides production runs, like the silver $2 polybagged only had a 125k run or the gold 2nd print with a 450k run, just curious if there was any reason why there are so little, compared to the unbagged issues? Trying to carefully choose which ones to submit... TIA!
  15. Out of curiosity, do all issues under 9.8 receive grader notes? I've submitted about 20 or so overall, and all 9.8's have no grader notes and 9.6's and less do.... until i got back one 9.6 submission with no notes. Is that typical?
  16. Picked this up a few months back and definitely could use a press (if it's not too fragile). Thinking maybe 2.0-3.5, at best (if pressed)? Thank you in advance!
  17. Nice! Thanks Fan Boy! My wallet just shed a tear... haha
  18. It doesn't look like CGC will have a booth there? Will it possible to get witnessed signatures? I'm leaning to go because of great lineup of talent but not sure about the witness signature part.
  19. Thanks everyone! Had been considering gifting it to a friend and debating whether or not to slab.
  20. Hello, Was just referred here after asking in the newbie section as I wasn't sure how to ask? Am relatively new to slabbing but was going through my 25+ year old collection and noticed a copy of ASM 40 having what appears to be a marker used for underlining and some color filling. Undoubtedly this would affect the grade, but wanted to ask you good folk, what kind of grade to expect? Front cover: The front cover doesn't appear to have been 'touched' but the back cover is a different story... Back cover (with markings): The back cover (section) is supposed to look like this (originally as printed): But it's not just the back cover, there are interior panels that have been colored: Colored: Original: Other (colored) frames: Another (colored) panel: : Original panel: Some of these color fills have bled through: I hadn't checked all the panels but from these pictures, what kind of grade would be expected? 3.0-3.5? 4.0, on a good day (like all the street lights turning green)? :P Still leaning towards submitting but not sure sure how bad these markings would affect the grade? Thanks for reading!
  21. Thanks dfx1! I'll try that section (wasn't sure what was meant by 'spare a grade'). On a different note (of researching info), was able to determine my copy of X-Men 272 is a manufacturing error and even though there are 7 other copies with this error, the grade will be a "Qualified" no matter what (i.e. 'Category 4"). https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/topic/201549-an-in-depth-comparison-of-green-label-and-blue-label-grading/ Forgive the n00bness!
  22. Hello, Fairly new to slabbing and these boards, but figured to go start with my 25+ year old collection. And wanted to ask the good people here what to expect if submitting an issue with some interior and exterior markings? What experiences have you come across? Context: I was checking out 2 copies of ASM 40 and noticed some pages had some parts colored in. Here are some examples: Originally as printed: But noticed the other copy had this (eyes and lips are colored in): But it's not just this section. There are some other sections and the back has some underlined words (looks like the same marker). The above coloring also bled through to the advertisement on the other side of the page: So, the question is... is it worth submitting? I think (still) yes as it's still ASM 40, but would this received the green 'Qualified' label? Pretty sure it's not a restoration so that's out. But found an old post listing some items that would fall under the Qualified but doesn't look like any of those categories would fit. So would this be a blue label? And how much would it affect the grade? I have other pictures of the other sections but they're all similar to these colorings. Thanks for reading!
  23. Hi, I just started slabbing recently and while going through my collection, happened to come across my own copy of cover #272 bound to a 2nd printing of #270. Do all 'manufacturing errors' receive the green Qualified label? Would the existence of more than 1 occurrence of this error constitute to a blue Universal label? Just not sure what's the difference between manufacturing errors (receiving a Qualified label) as opposed to printing errors (receiving a blue Universal label, e.g. Venom Lethal Protector black cover)? Was considering to submit mine for encapsulation but would it help to reference this instance (i.e. more than one copy exists, but can't read/make out the number)? Thanks for reading!
