Depends on how specific you want to get.

His first published work is an in-house ad in Prize Comics #5, released in May of 1940 (cover date July 1940) for The Green Lama.

It is believed that he penciled, along with John Hampton, an 8 page Lance Hale story in Silver Streak Comics #6 (Lev Gleason), released July 1940 (cover date September 1940).

With John Hampton writing, he pencils and inks a 5 page Dr. Voodoo story in Whiz Comics #9 (Fawcett), released August 1940 (cover date October 1940). This would be his first real, solo work.

He'd do another 5 pg Dr. Voodoo story with John Hampton writing, in Whiz Comics #10 (Fawcett), released September 1940 (cover date November 1940).

THEN, he would do his first Green Lama 8 page story (writer, Ken Crossen), in Prize Comics #7 (Black Owl cover by Jack Kirby), released October 1940 (cover date December 1940).

note: Green Lama (Jethro Dumont) was first introduced in the pulp magazine Double Detective #5 (April 1940 cover date).

His first COVER would be of Minute Man for Master Comics #12 (Fawcett) released February 1941 (cover date March 1941).

All of this information is available at comics.org and mikesamazingworld.com

I think I’m going to convince myself his first work was Whiz 9 instead of Silver Streak for budget purposes 😂. Thanks so much!

    Hey everyone,

Selling my copy of Amazing Fantasy 15 CGC 4.0 with restoration. Restoration includes color touch and trimming on all edges. I don’t really sell on the boards much, but I do sell regularly on Instagram live if you need references. My name there is @hirams_collectibles . I’m asking $28,000 for it because of the incomplete 0.5 going for $22k on heritage last week. The copy presents really well and it’s a good entry level price for this book. Feel free to DM with offers. Must have references. I accept wire transfer, check, or money order. Price includes insured shipping/registered mail. Returns accepted within 3 days of delivery.

    Thank you!

Rural Home publishing slapped this cover on a variety or remaindered issues from a number of different publishers. Most of the time the contents are from 1948-1954, indicating they may have done this for several years. CMJr. #18 came out in 1944, which seems early for the contents of one of these, but I suspect PGX getting the issue number wrong is more likely. Sometimes the title of the content book is stamped on the cover. Blue Circle #6, and Blazing Comics #5 and #6 have a similar history. Rural Home published original material briefly around 1945, and it is speculated the covers for these were printed back then, and later used for reselling remaindered books.

High grade CGC copies have been known to sell for a few hundred dollars, though likely for the novelty factor, otherwise they tend to sell about what a low grade copy of the interior might, though in my humble opinion, they really aren't worth any more than a coverless copy.

    Thanks so much for this!

  4. Hey everyone, I recently had a friend offer me a PGX 9.2 Captain Marvel Jr. 18. When I look at the book, it has a Red Circle 4 cover. My friend is telling me that what happened when they printed CMJ18 was that they ran out of covers and started wrapping them with Red Circle 4 covers. Would you guys be able to help me out in figuring out the history of this? Is this true? If so, does anyone know how to value this thing? Or is all of this just one big PGX mix up haha. Thank you for your help. HEre are pics:

  5. Hello everyone, sorry if this is the wrong place, this is my first time using the chat boards.

I've recently decided that I want to collect Booster Gold's original run (1-25) all graded CGC 9.6 +. It seems that after 1 ebay and other websites i've seen don't have the rest of them. Is there anywhere you guys know that would have these books already graded? I would buy them raw and send them to be graded, but i'm less than adept at grading these things on sight and I don't want to get bamboozled with a lower grade.

    Thanks for your time!
