  1. I think #2 and #3 are each harder to get than #1 and #4. I've had my copies for 25 years so I don't actively look for them, but I definitely see more copies of #1 at conventions than the others, though part of that may be because it is a #1 issue and is seen as more desirable
  2. Sorry (not really ) . They were too tempting. Hopefully you won a few other auctions for things that you wanted. If it makes you feel any better, when I posted the pictures on Facebook a friend taunted me with their copy of Dale Evans #1.
  3. Yes, they were from you. Thanks again. Those issues cut my Cisco Kid want list from needing 16 down to needing 8. Progress!
  4. I liked Fish Police quite a bit. I didn't pay nearly as much for my copy of #1, though. I probably paid about 75 cents for it. (It helped to work at a comic store and get things at cost). The prices on a lot of popular books from the 1980s have crashed over the years, including Marvel and DC. The Longshot miniseries and the Kitty Pryde and Wolverine miniseries issues used to get much higher prices than they do today.
  5. This one arrived in the mail this week. I need one more issue to finish the series.
  6. I've been going to Wizard World Chicago every year since Wizard took over the show about 20 years ago. For me, the show has always been very good to great in terms of comic buying. I have no interest in panels. autographs, celebrities and so on. I usually come home with 300 or more comics, though I expect the number to drop as my want list shrinks. For me, the peak was in the several years after DC and Marvel pulled out of the show. I will say that the show seems to be on the decline and that I heard from a number of dealers who indicated that last year was going to be their last show. I think Wizard keeps raising prices for dealers. I've asked dealers and collectors that I know about the best shows for pure comics and the results are pretty consistently HeroesCon and Baltimore, both of which have been mentioned here multiple times. I have my ticket for HeroesCon and will attend for the first time this year. I would have attended last year or the year before, but the dates conflicted with the end of the school year for me. Now that I am retired, that isn't a problem. I also plan to attend Baltimore in October this year for the first time. I almost went last fall, but had a conflict with a trip to Japan.
  7. I bought a large batch of Dell Cisco Kid comics from a guy in Hong Kong last year and it worked out just fine. The seller seemed pretty legit and was not new to eBay. The books arrived quickly and in great shape. I guess that's different from ordering from mainland China, though. I certainly wouldn't buy from an eBayer like the ones in the pictures above.
  8. I was 11 at the time and the store was having one of their half price sales that they ran between Christmas and New Year's Day. This was priced at $20, but was half off. I used my last $10 of spending money to buy it. That #9 looks great. Too bad that guy defaced it.
  9. It isn't in great shape, but I bought this one for $10 back in 1981.
  10. Thanks. I wish that I had gotten serious about the 1940s/50s Harvey issues earlier than I did. I had them on my want list, but didn't actively pursue the early issues until around 10 years ago. Those file copies would be really nice to have. I think the Little Max #1 has the second appearance of Little Dot. Sad Sack #1 came out a month earlier and I think that one is the first appearance. I haven't picked up that issue yet.
  11. Thanks, Jayman! I'm a member of a few Facebook groups and have lurked on the CGC boards a couple of times, but thought it would be fun to share some of the early books that I have. I collect all of the Harvey humor books from the 1950s up and have filled a number of holes in recent years. I also collect Archies and other humor and non humor books, but the Harveys are where it all began for me.
  12. Some miscellaneous books - Little Max 1, Paramount Animated 9,10, Sad Sack 2,3
  13. Harvey Comics Hits 60-62 which feature the first two issues of Paramount Animated Comics and the first Harvey Casper (#6 in the overall series).
  14. Some early Caspers that I've picked up over the last 5 years or so.
  15. I started collecting comics in 1977 when my brother shared his Richie Rich collection with me. I completed my Richie Rich set (comics and digests) about 20 years ago, though there are a few early ones I wouldn't mind upgrading. I collected the other Harvey humor books as well, though not with the same diligence until about 10 years ago. I'm getting close to completing runs of Casper, Wendy, Little Lotta and others, but still have a long way to go on Little Dot, unfortunately. I do have #3-5, 7-9 and 12-14 of Little Dot at least. The main Sad Sack title still has a number of holes to fill as well. I started collecting Joe Palooka a few years ago and was lucky enough to score #1-8 and a run of later issues. I also got one of the pre-Harvey issues in the lot.
  16. Betty and Veronica #1-4 #1 has a few issues, but the others aren't too bad Also, Archie's Rival Reggie #1-3
  17. Is that your way of saying that you want to walk back from Chicago next time? Here are a few more - Archie #6, Archie Annual #1,2 and Archie Giant #1
  18. Theycallmearchie and I have been friends for a number of years and usually go to the Chicago conventions together. I've collected Archies (and other comics) since the late 1970s. We each need around 50 Archie comics featuring the main cast, though he has the edge due to his early Peps. I used to work in a comic book store, though we didn't get many early Archies in collections. Here are the first four Jughead issues from my collection, which I picked up about 25 years ago.
  19. I just ran across this thread, but I can answer a question from the first post. C.C. stood for Captain Comic. I think C.C. had a partial ownership in the store dating back to around 1976, even if he didn't gain sole ownership until 1979. I started going to Classic in 1977 when it was in Farmington. Bill would call me and my brother whenever they got a Richie Rich collection and we would go up there and buy whichever issues we still needed. When they moved to Livonia in 1981, the new location was only three miles from my house so I could ride my bike up there. I started working at Classic in 1986 when I was in high school and continued working there on a part time basis until the store closed in 2005. My main interest was comics, but I ran the card section for many of those years. I enjoyed working there a lot and had a lot of good times. C.C. was a really good guy and so were many of my coworkers in their own ways. By the way, C.C. was in one panel of the Alice Cooper comic (Marvel Premiere #50) that came out in 1979 in a cameo by Terry Austin.
  20. Is this the same one that was reported back then? If so, the scammer is at it again. https://www.ebay.com/itm/JACKPOT-COMICS-4-ARCHIE-2ND-BEGINS-6-0-DEC-1941-PEP-22-NICE-PAGES-MLJ-NO-RES/202526099087?hash=item2f277f068f:g:D80AAOSw~slcB8Q6:rk:1:pf:0 I reported one just like this a few years ago and thought I recognized it again.
