  1. Hi all, I just got the grades back from CGC on my rare J.Scott Campbell Variants.  Both came in as 9.8's and are yellow label with Campbell signature series.  The Uncanny X-Men 510 variant has sold for $13,000 in the past and there are only four 9.8 yellow labels in existence.  The Black Panther 1 (2009) with Suri on the cover (predates Black Panther 5 (2009) her first appearance has gone for $8,000.  I am wondering if I should run an auction on Ebay or go to a more formal auction house.  Any advice would be much appreciated.  Below are pictures of the books before I got them cleaned and pressed, signed and graded. Side Note: I am thinking if I time the Black Panther with the first trailer coming out that might boost the sale) I want to sell these books to finance a nice X-Men 1 for my collection.

As far as I know, the only time magnification is used at CGC when grading is for getting a closer look at suspicious areas that may have been restored. Liz is absolutely correct---good old 20/20 vision (or better) is all you really need for grading comic books...  (thumbsu

Alright sounds good.  Using magnification on the spine can drive you nuts too.

  3. Greetings all, I am pretty new to grading my own books.  I bought two raw 137's and have looked at several online.  This square bound book seems to always have issues with the staples showing on the back cover.  I have noticed this on CGC 9.8's too.  A lot of times there appears to be some black marks around the staples.  Has anyone noticed this?  Is this a universal defect that can't be avoided?
