  2. Please remember this one important tidbit. Fed Ex limits/permits the maximum declared value of up to only $1K for collectibles. If you are shipping high dollar slabs especially via international route you really need 3rd party collectibles insurance coverage.

As far as I know the only shipping entity that will insure up to $50K on a package is USPS registered mail.  For USPS Priority or Priority Express the max insurable coverage is $5K.

I'm on ebay and I can't find this 10% coupon.  I'm like Buzzetta,  I missed the 15% and 10% feels like I'm being cheated sort of.  I guess it's only for select people?

Everyone should have gotten the 15% yesterday. The 10% today is selective as well as the 8% ebay bucks promo that is going on today.

I did - I tried checking out with the app and it would not let me.  Kept trying on my phone. I took a screen shot of it at 9:59 as I gave up at that point.

Oh and I thank you for that by the way.  Very nice of you to do that.

Call eBay customer service and explain to them you were having technical problems (i.e. the code would not work and let you checkout) but you were in before the expiration time. They will more than likely issue you a redemption coupon for the amount of credit applicable to your attempted purchase(s) that will populate within your account in less than 24 hours. Just make sure the items are still in your cart when you call.

lol maybe somehow I'm missing it, but no, I don't see it in the banner..... nor in email, but most of the times, the email comes a couple of hours later and is on the banner first...

I'm in CST, I wonder if timezones matter lol :foryou:

Right. I activated through the banner.

In my experience it is almost always cheaper on their website anyway?  I see 10-20% markup differences between their website and ebay list to account for comissions and shipping.

You are right on 10% or less all the time. But with 15% off depends on the price point. I buy from MCS frequently by the way directly but today I am getting a MCS slab on ebay for $200 with free shipping @%15 off or $170.

When you factor in the 3% consignment fee you have to pay plus the $5 shipping, 15% off is gonna be better on eBay. You will save $14 more.

From ebay = $170 (free shipping)

    From MCS = slab there is listed at $174 + 3% + $5 shipping = $184

It was a high point, but leading up to the sale harbinger 1 was notoriously impossible to get in 9.8s.  It's been widely regarded that CGC might have loosened up grading a bit (either in general or for that book) so gradually a few joined the census.  I agree with you that Harby dropped down to the low point of almost all Valiant/Acclaim back issues, but this was more than a few years ago.  Myself and several others were watching those auctions like hawks, I was thinking about getting a book for my collection but I have several high grade raws (albeit most likely not a 9.8) that I didn't bother....

Thanks for the clarification on that time frame of when the price lows hit. Continual sleep deprivation on my end tends to skew my concept of time periods.  And it's hard to believe we are talking about now, what 15 something years from the days of when the Harb1 9.8 census was a handful or less with none on the horizon?

Did you by chance pick anything up during the lows?  And do you recall how long that period lasted? I do distinctly recall upon the big news acquisition there being a rapid uptick (2015ish?) It's also amazing that present day Harb1 9.8 population is nearly 3X Solar 10 9.8 but given what a tough cover the Solar is, more so than Harb, perhaps not.

On the flip side, if one is patient and can wait for bidding style auctions you can get a ton of value in terms of what it could cost for 9.6 slabs and if bidding is on the light side. I have watched pre-unity 9.6 slab auctions where the ending price was the nearly same as the shipping cost.

Harbinger #1 hit $2500 ten years ago.....

I believe that sale was an anomaly. The back story was that the particular individual wanted that slab and was tired of waiting/losing out and was willing to pay anything to have it. At that point in time Harb 1 9.8 slab carried a mystique and rarely showed up. There was an uber tiny census population on this issue for years.

You can imagine that $2500 sale really was really a bat signal bringing out future subs and sellers to cash in for a pay day. As the census population exponentially grew over the next period of time, I want to say only a few years ago you had all you could eat on Harb 1 CGC 9.8's in the $500 range and lower.

You did good to add Rai #0 to your run, since it wasn't a pre-unity book. (thumbsu

I only collected three runs outside of this range that being RAI, Magnus, and Solar (slabbed that is)  Raw speaking I have allot more post.  I just always thought there was something awesome about EW. Kind of like backwards going from a movie translating into a comic. Because before this super-hero movie phenom explosion the past decade or less, usually comic story transcribed to big screen was a disappointment. Not necessarily because it was bad just because your own personal expectation or hopes were different.

$214 shipped over 16 years ago.  I believe the raws were still $0.25 to $2 everywhere at the time.

I remember bidding $333.33, but I think the 2nd highest bidder was right around $200.

Seems like yesterday when I was putting my pre unity run together and paying $40 for a RAI 0 9.8 slab :preach:

I remember how awesome it was seeing EW4 in Wizard's hot comics on the move page. That was always in my short list of favorite all-time valiant covers. I still have a couple of these raw bought from the rack myself.
