  1. Interesting.....I see pages from his FF run go for an average of say $125 and USM (without Spidey in costume) go for roughly the same. Now hero splashes are closer to $300 plus but I would say that is much lower than his contemporaries…..right?
  2. Mark Bagley is much more affordable today for reasons I can’t explain. Would imagine over time the arrow can only go up.
  3. As far as artist goes are you thinking modern or silver/gold? Modern what comes to mind is someone like Van Sciver who was on top and then made some questionable choices. Much of his fanbase jumped ship but his art still stands up.
  4. You are trying to eat an elephant in one bite. Pick one or two characters you like. Say Batman and Spider-Man. Grab some runs in TPB to see if you like them still. If that’s the case look for some key issues surrounding the run you read. This will mean more to you. Example if you were going the Batman route. Get these books on Amazon Batman by Scott Snyder & Greg Capullo Omnibus Vol. 1 Batman: White Knight Batman: The Dark Knight: Master Race Then grab some cool variants of the issues.
  5. I always get Joe and Jimmy confused.
  6. Dazzled with my wins! A big MAHALO to @Haupia
  7. You couldn't pay me to sit through a musical. Did you at least get the flea market contact? Cut out the middle man.
  8. Your first issue should purchased using the below formula Favorite Character + Venom = Venomized Favorite Character
  9. In all honesty the keys are far and few over the last 10-20 years unless you count variants. The writing has gotten much better and so has the art.....but keys? Not so much. If collecting go for rare variants, if reading the world is your oyster. Top of my head modern keys Walking Dead 1-10, 100 X-23 First Appearance NXY#3 Alias #1 Batman #635 Batman #656 Hulk #1 Red Hulk Wolverine #66 Old Man Logan Ult Fallout #4 Saga #1 Edge of Spiderverse #2 ..........what else?
  10. Reading the Jimmy P story got me thinking....is it still possible to find OA out in the wild today? Not from a collector, talking about someone sitting on a stack that has no idea of value or importance.
  11. I would love to hear the story of how that got passed and approved to be printed. We are talking about a major character for Marvel. Just does not make since. That wouldn’t have been approved as an ad by a small time agency.
  12. I wonder if the page has been altered since print. Would love to watch that one go on auction.
  13. I can see your point that it misses the opportunity of being unique. For the same amount you could request a cover that captures a likeness but with a personal touch of inspiration inspired either by the artist or yourself. As the original cover is a one of a kind, now so is the reimagining. You have talked me out of getting a one to one. You are so wise. Was looking to get a 1st Issue Special featuring the Warlord by Grell. I think I will let the Dinosaur win on this cover.
  14. Come to think of it I have owned a few characters not on top of their game. I owned this George Perez splash of the historically bad Triathlon Man.
  15. I owned a feral Wolverine for a short stint.
  16. I would be remiss not to include the fantastic re-creation gifted to me by luck of the draw from Toro my secret Santa. No clue who the artist is but great nonetheless!
  17. notable artist doing the concepts or gun for hire panel artist?
