  1. I sent a message to the guy last week. Me: What's the size on this guy? Also is this the prelim or the actual cover? Do you know the process they used on these magazine covers once the pencils were done? Him: Its 16 x 21 and with the frame is a bit under 23x28. The art is same size as the painting would be. Norem would do his rough pencils and a color rough prelim. Followed by finished pencils on thin trace paper like this that he would essentially lightbox onto canvas to do the painting. You will find tears corners ripped on the finished pencils due to being taped down and the paper being so thin.. He din't take care of them so the condition is generally an issue. There are people that collect just his finished pencils as the detail can be better than the actual painting. and in some cases the average person will never find/ own the painting. Thanks for your interest.
  2. Several weeks ago I posted about the appreciation for the art of Michael Turner. I started down a rabbit hole to find some Turner original art and I came across Mario Gully and his creation "Ant". This work had gone unnoticed by me in the early 00's. The artist, Mario Gully, created the character Ant while serving time in prison. It was first published by Arcana and then later moved to Image. Below is a modest piece I picked up (sorry for the glare), below are some great additional OA that have made it onto my growing wish list. I dig his stuff, not sure what he has been up to lately. It always amazes me these flash in the pan artist that are here and gone. What I got:
  3. That's actually a great idea. Like they have all those Venomized variant covers they should have Vigilized covers with Tim Vigil doing the covers.
  4. Behold...90's cheese at it's greatest! I give you CYBERNET from Youngblood!
  5. Unless you post pictures I'm going to have to go with the White-Out issue from Alpha Flight.
  6. I thought E was for eyewear, my fault. I can't explain what draws me to it, but I like it, I think? The main reason was to see where this would rank in the much talked about ABCD and now E ranking. No hero, lower tier artist, and rock bottom pricing. But it is a splash and a page 1 title that maybe has appeal?????
  7. Here is an odd one. Full spalsh, non hero,pg 1, ehhh art and only going for $100 on the bay. What's funny is I'm actually drawn to it, don't know why. So A,B,C,D......or E? Power of Shazam #33 Pete Krause
  8. Ahhhh. Ok, that make sense. Thought it was referring to layouts. I'm a dolt.
  9. Ok, here is an odd one. Just purchased the original art to this page (sorry don't have OA picture in hand yet). It is Page #1 to Hulk(1999) #5. Great issue with contributions from some all time greats. Story and Art is split up into three parts between Sal, Tex, and Mike Miller, framing is by Dan Jurgens. But who did the intro page? My guess would be Sal, but on the next page, the start of part one, his Hulk looks strikingly different. Any thoughts on the artist? Will upload original when I get it.
  10. oh come one....this one is only$10,000. I bet you can get it for $7,500.
  11. I used to bunch his stuff in with the cheese of the late 90's and early 2000's but I have really started to appreciate it more and more and find it rather striking and unique. Since his passing it has been very tough landing some of his OA. Prices are insane. Anyone have any and would like to share? Here are some cool ones I came across.
  12. I'm a sucker for the Thing, especially when he is fighting himself! FF #12
  13. I'll take a stab at A. Cover from a top 50 artist Splash from a top 10 artist Defining moment or first appearance
  14. Joined just a couple months ago, still getting the hang of the place. Was venting in the moment. Going to see if he makes good with a payback before PayPal has to extract the funds. If he does not pay me back before the deadline than I would be more than happy to share his name. It's listed as one of the names to watch out for on the facebook link shared in this thread. If you want his name PM me and I will share it.
  15. Ya, I checked it out as well. Lot of names on there.
  16. Just sharing my experience my man...sorry I can't be more helpful. I guess if your looking for a point or a teachable moment from me it is I should have asked for recommendations from the board or gotten a referral. That and artist that are open and willing to do commissions with a two week turnaround are available for a reason.
  17. I'm not going to torch the guy, karma can do that. And again.....maybe he is down on his luck.....maybe he did lose all his commissions....and if the guy doesn't have $350 in his pocket to pay me back he must be in a bad way. It's just messed up that's all, came to vent. At one point I even said can you send me a splash or a panel that you might have.....he sold them all to Anthonys I think, he has nothing. He knew the deadline ahead of time, I even extended it a couple weeks, but as time and excuses passed I didn't even want to look at his work if I had it. Most cases you hand funds over to an artist and know that he will get to it when he can...and that's fine. But this was different because he knew the tight deadline and excepted the money.
  18. Nicest guy in the world on the phone when we first talked. You would most likely know his name, steady artist in the 80's and then dropped off. He created a character or two, and the commission would have been a solid addition. After the first call his correspondence took a nosedive. And I can almost bet he was excited to take my money to pay off the last sucker...my guess is he is really behind on his work. I should have asked for a recommendation. Right now I would be happy with a Mrs Argobast sketch, at least I would have something to show for the money that was given. Also, as the title states, I think I was scammed, I wanted to get the opinion of the forum.
  19. I did speak with PayPal and they said they would give him 10 days to respond. My question is....if he has no funds or no CC tied to his account...how do they get the funds to pay me back?
  20. I found my way to him by googling artist excepting commissions. Made my way down the rabbit hole, ended up getting his direct email address and started a correspondence. We talked for a good 30 minutes on the phone and he was pumped to get started on it.
  21. No invoice. He asked me to send the funds directly to his PayPal account (email address). I did day one. This is my first request for a refund, apologize if I am lacking knowledge in the process.
