  1. Great catch. I'm really impressed at how innovative these covers were. Was this one of Infantino's first "divided between two worlds" covers? His artwork sure was clean in the early 1950s. Is this one of the earliest cover examples of an image inked in a color besides black? Can someone clue me in on technically what was done here? Was the witch (?) inked in black as usual then passed off to the colorist, who included it on the red plate -- or something like that? I'm not used to seeing this technique used (and abused) frequently until the 70s. Great eyes on the woman! What's this? Was the hooded figure spotted in black, crosshatched with white ink, printed in black and finally overprinted with yellow? Very unusual for 50s, isn't it? I wonder whether Adler was involved in all these experiments. Looking forward to it! Jack
  2. Something mysteriously crashed my browser and cleared my cache, so when I opened this thread I went back to post #1. I got a big laugh out of, "Being a latecomer to these boards I realize that almost anything I choose to post has probably already been uploaded. So, I'm going to pick things from my collection rather randomly and hope there's some interest." I was just about to complain about all your repetitive posting of the same old stuff, BZ.   4. about the same response my precodes got... Ya gotta suck up to the crowd by saying things like, "Hey, this one is for Doc, 9.8 Moderns" or "Yo, check it out greggy, 9.8 100 pagers!" I usually use, "crossposted on the Short Bus thread." Jack

  10. Kudos (possibly overdue, possibly repeated) for some great multiple-item board purchases from: the shadow knows -- mostly Jimmy Olsen and Lois Lane. Looking forward to another round. skypinkblu -- too much stuff from Gold to Silver to Crazy! Good deals abound. ciorac -- mostly Golden Age goodness. Heroic, True Comics, Lars of Mars, much more misc! JohnT -- Silver Age, mostly DC. Received Monday and bragged about most of the books on the SA forum.   11. Some nice-looking Gold Keys that rounded out my board buy. Amazing how inexpensive these books are compared to Marvel or DC books with the same date and condition. Attractive covers too!   12. Very happy to get this dime book. The Brave and the Bold 33 Jan-61 3rd Cave Carson! Just ignore the scribbling in the logo, OK? Only 10 issues away from a run from #29 to the end, although #31 is coverless. Too much competition for #1-28. It'll take some real luck for me to own any of those. Jack

  15. I don't think I've ever posted in this thread before. Just in, a very presentable copy of The X-Men 16 from Jan-66 bought off a board thread. Getting closer! A solid run from 12 to 63 except for a damaged copy of #22, with only 31 total missing below #315, and many of them are the reprint issues that I'm not willing to spend big money for. Jack

  18. Adventures of Bob Hope 90 http://www.comics.org/details.lasso?id=71328 The story credit says: Mort Drucker (signed) and I just checked my copy. The signature is right there on page 1. The cover art (especially the robot) is consistent with the story art. Based on the comparision, I think that the cover credit as Drucker is probably right. Thanks, Jack
