  1. Training begins in the Danger Room, ish 94. Cockrum borrows a Gil Kane-sque “up the nose” angle either Cyclops. I’m using the Omnibus as a color guide, the super white paper makes all the colors so much brighter than the floppies - huge difference
  2. From issue 109 awesome panel from John Byrne with Weapon Alpha clocking Wolverine.
  3. Here’s the update to the cover of X-Men 94. I finally finished with that teal green on top of the cover and ironed out some rough spots the color makes all the difference in the world. First issue in the title with the new team
  4. Thank you all for your response here. I'll now head over to the original art section.
  5. I was looking around eBay and found these: Can someone shed some light on what these are - I have a good guess, but I'm not sure how to tell if these are authentic or what? Seem like a neat keepsake at a reasonable price, but is it too good to be true? One of a kind? Thanks for any help/advice in this area.
  6. OtherEric and AJD - Thank you for your replies. I bought it because of the similarity to Brenda Starr 14. As you can see, the Australian version is much more modest that the US version. The only thing I don't like about the book is that it is in a Magazine slab vs the norm. I have always wanted to buy the US version, but with pricing going into orbit, I'll need to be content with this version. Very happy I stumbled across it!
  7. I purchased this off the last Comic Link auction even though I wasn't and still am not sure what it is. Is there a site that would have insight? If any of you Golden Guru's could shed some light, I would be very appreciative.
  8. Reading Giant Size #1 as a teen, I never noticed how insensitive some of the dialog is. “Geronimo / the JAP”. I know this came out during the Archie Bunker era, I just never realized how overt it was.
  9. I’ve been putting a lot of work into the interior pages of giant size X-Men #1. I’m continue to be amazed with the amount of detail in each panel. My short-term goal is to complete the entire giant size book at some point in the near future. This endeavor has been pretty relaxing. Our family like yours, I’m sure, has not been able to do much during Covid. We are playing more board games than ever before and enjoying being together.
  10. #95, Not my best effort. Did this one a long time ago - pre-Covid. Have a better crayon box and some trial & error since
  11. Page 1 splash from Giant Size X-Men #1 - as I mentioned in an earlier post, I believe this is a far superior image versus the cover of said comic, similar to the cover but with a better background. In my opinion, better composition. I really like this image I thought it came out really nice
  12. It took me most of last night and today to finish this. #105, so much going on in each panel - I don’t absorb most of the art when I read.
  13. Issue 108 “Armageddon Now!” great story Byrnes first illustrated issue on the title - I completed the final page of the issue where the Lilandra comes back through the portal announcing that she is now exiled on earth. At the bottom of the page there’s a dedication with respect and admiration to Dave Cockrum and the last line is “I’m not dead” There’s a lot of background shading in these panels that make each one of them pop and stand out I especially like the rainbow effect in the last panel and the coloring of the first panel with Firelord’s - orange red and yellow
  14. X-Men Giant Size #1, where it all began not for me of course but for a lot of other people. I didn’t catch on until about issue 102. Digging around for back issues was hard without the Internet and only a bicycle. I remember hearing about this giant size issue and the unbelievable price tag of $20-$30!! So I waited and waited and finally many years after the run had ended I found a FINE copy to make my own. I thought the cover was nice, what was really impressed again by the splash page (i’ll post that once I finish it). 68 big pages for a half a buck what a deal!!
  15. Well, that Took much longer than I originally expected. It’s been a dreary rainy day, perfect for this project! I like to look at the earlier stages versus the completed version they are miles apart visually. The more I color in this trade paperback the more I really appreciate how much work each panel of these comics really takes to complete. While I’m working I’ve been rereading much of these issues and it only reinforces why I fell in love with Claremont storytelling, Cockrums’ and Byrnes’ art captured my imagination when I was a teenager.
  16. I won’t be able to as this collection contains only up to #119 (vol. 1). When I finish this volume, I’ll start the next - LOL I’m sure #133 would be in vol 2!
  17. X-men #104 “The Gentleman’s Name is Magneto”. Starting work on the big splash page! It’s 7pgs into the book. Our heroes have traveled to the island of Dr. MacTaggerts Laboratory, only to be confronted by a purple & red Magneto - who is bent on world domination! I’m in the middle of this page. My red Crayola has run dry - as I rummage thru my children’s rooms for a replacement, I thought it might be interesting to show you this at its mid-stage.
  18. Thanks, MGsimba77 & Buzzetta. I stole my kids Crayola Twistables.
  19. I’ve been working on this one for a while - there is a lot going on. This is the splash page for the All New All Different X-Men #107. In this issue I feel that the splash page is nicer than the cover. It looks like Cockrum was having a lot of fun because right after the splash, it opens to a double page splash On the next 2 pegs, which I haven’t started yet. Do any of you boardies own the original art to these gorgeous pages? In the next issue, #108 John Byrne takes over as artist - I wonder if Cockrum was trying to hit it out of the park in his last issue?
  20. There is one of these I guess spiderweb stamps on the back of the book
  21. Thank you ADAMANTIUM! That of course leads me to my next question....what is FMV?
  22. While digging around my comic boxes, I discovered many, many copies of Todd McFarline's Spiderman #1 - Regular, Bagged, Gold, etc.. Then I came across this one. As I remember, the LCS sold it to me as a special signed version. Does anyone know if this was the case back then? I cant seem to find anything in the OPG. Thanks for any help here.
  23. Ok, another cover in the books. The classic X-Men #94 and the nefarious Count Nefaria!
