  1. What's weird about watching Gotham is the sense that Batman will be meaningless. Bruce'll be wasting his time in 15 years, way too late to the party. Donning a Bat costume won't scare the hell out of anybody. He would just be another nutter in a city with a long, long history of unhinged crazies.

Season1 is more enjoyable if my viewing-mindset is it's all a Scarecrow induced fever-dream Bruce is having. Some nightmare about his bystander-inner-child. That at the end of Gotham Bruce'll wake up Bobby-Ewing-style, good to go.

  2. That brings up something I was checking out a month or so ago...

Why aren't there ongoing DC Universe novels for YA/Adult readers? ??? Swing over to Goodreads and serial-universes are on fire in the fantasy/scifi genres. The readership is HUGE. And the DCU could stand up to any of them. DC's broad range of characters in super-science, magic, horror, galactic, urban...

Why DC leaves such an obvious revenue stream just sitting there unfulfilled is beyond me. :screwy: Not to mention frustrating.

I'd love to read some richly plotted well written DCU novels by bestselling professionals.

A sales director that works out of our office has a cousin that dates Dan DiDio (they may even be engaged). Let me see if he has the ability to make that suggestion via his cousin. Worst-case, it remains an obvious hole in DC's offerings.

    Thank you! :foryou:

What's weird is, because superheroes are so bankable now, there are authors creating universes and connecting with those readers. Brandon Sanderson's 'Reckoners' series comes to mind. So it's maddening that DC isn't in there competing. Plus, as a lifelong fan, I need some quality DC.

The DCU is as rich and developed as any fictional universe out there.

  4. It's too cartoony. It feels more like 'Batman and Robin' than 'The Dark Knight.'
Agree with "cartoony". The clothes, cars and locations purposefully build a cliche cartoon-world. 'Batman and Robin' or that 'D ick Tracy' movie come to mind.

I'm halfway through S1 on Netflix and will finish up, but midway there's a sinking feeling it's not going to get any better.

  5. Gotham is really about the development of the villains, which is why I tune in.
That's one of the things I have a problem not thinking about while watching. In the Gothamverse many of the villains are Jim Gordon's generation. Will be much older by the time Batman gets around to kicking their azz.
  6. Gong to give Season 1 another chance on Netflix. I think I made it to episode 6 when it aired.

Maybe without commercials whatever they were trying to do will flow better uninterrupted. :wishluck: (but I was really hoping Netflix would snag 'The Flash' season 1 . :( )

  7.

Holy :censored: ! If Michael Ironside's voice came out of that I think I'd pizz myself. :applause:

Hopefully it's a Zbrush sculpt and hopefully it will be cast as a custom resin statue at some point. :wishluck:

it looks fantastic, and it is my hope that if DC ever does include Darkseid in any movie that he looks just like this.

That artist needs credit, plus I just wanted to track it down to see his other stuff:

  8. Okay, let's stir up some trouble. What's the BEST Batman statue, either already released or taking preorders now? hm
Those Jim Lee ArtFX Kotobukiya look like a clean solid Batman design. PVC, not resin, so a light weight statue. Blue or Black versions, plus they offer a decent Superman companion piece. Pretty sweet overall, visually.

No. 2 would be the Randy Bowen Batman. :cloud9: Beautiful design. Time has made them iconic.

And for grins, toss in this monster...

  9. Isn't there another version of this?

I'm really not sure. Back then I was watching the 'work in progress' slides appear on Statueforum, then there was a Con booth photo showing one on display. That concept of digital-sculpture-becomes-physical-object seemed like it changed everything. The level of detail and precision is insane.

(and may mean someday they could program A.I. software to both analyze 2D comic drawings and run Zbrush, kicking out character statues with breakneck speed.)

  10. You're welcome. (thumbs u :)

I just think Statue tech is rolling right along, getting better and better. I'm still blown away by the sculpting quality and detail that comes out of software like Zbrush. The 1st one I really noticed was Sideshow's Scarlet Witch. To see it develop first as 3D rendering, then become a physical object for sale was truly amazing. And now with desktop 3D printers getting cheaper/better it makes me wonder how long before you can just download files, print out and paint, for the DIY crowd.

  11. One thing about Statues is they "age" as higher quality, higher detailed and more dynamic poses come online. The ante is constantly being upped.

Someday table-top holographic will become a game-changer. That, or lifesize robot replicas can just come live in your house. lol

    Iron Man -

  12. Interesting that your concerns are only financial, not which is best for the books. Hobby purposes you say ?
Not to get into it, but for the Hobbyist wouldn't a regular tacking iron do a lot of what they want? You know, spot re-flattening instead of the full meal deal. And many hundreds cheaper. No?

No boardie-love for the lowly Tacking Iron 'round here? (shrug)

  14. This would be used for Hobby purposes so I don't think I need a big Expensive Machine, just one that works.

    -------------

needless to say, i have no clue, but would the advantage of the bigger fancier ones is that you can probably press 30 books in a row whereas the little guys may start to overheat if you don't give them a break?

The Mint Maker can handle it.

  15. That ComicBookMovie link had a nice clean BvS 'credits' layout:

  16. Did we get an official drop date that I missed somewhere? I just see the post stating it'll happen before 2016. Was there anything more concrete yet?
There was an earlier report that stated: "...would stream in 4Q 2015".

And this report from yesterday (Aug 12) 'Marvel's Jessica Jones' Netflix Release Date: Rosario Dawson To Appear As Part Of 'Daredevil' Crossover?

"As of writing, Netflix has not yet revealed the official release date for "Jessica Jones." However reports reveal that it might be released later this year."

edit: too slow typing, but Bosco685 got you covered. (thumbs u Being August, 4 months left, we're awfully close to "Coming Soon" territory. :wishluck::ohnoez:

  17. Pure 'Targeted Marketing'. And why not, the blogasphere gobbles it up, propels it right on to mainstream pop culture 'news'.

The war, if there is one, is on female wallets.

I watch something like that and I'm thinking about the Petsmart crowd. About how many pet owners there are out there. About all the money comic publishers are leaving on the table.
