  1. Agreed. There have been a couple exceptions, Solarcadet springs to mind.
  2. because they used to do it with no problem then stopped doing it for some reason, not sure why you all have to be gatekeepers to everyone new to collecting just because someone doesn't share you same sentiment doesn't mean you need to respond because I didn't ask you I asked the admin at cgc just my 2 cents no matter what part of the board I express my opinon on the vast majority have a hivemind mentality and really no self value to there own personal interests. Good day, sir! Fixed that for you
  3. That's not a very high bar. I'm funnier than RMA. I'm funnier than unfunny Ryan
  4. I wasn't putting anybody down. Just answering the question posted in the title and stating that i'm not going to go thru 10 pages to see what others opinions are. Nowhere do I say that other reasons are less than mine. That is your assumption. Good day. You have to add "sir" to the end of that.
  5. You mean these things only survived by accident until the almighty CGC came along 18 years ago? I am pretty sure the 'preserving' thing was already in hand. Mylar bag, Microchamber paper, hard case. You think CGC was the only people to figure this out? Ever see how these CGC cases and books get damaged in USPS transit (there is a thread for this). Are the cases fire proof (no). If you submerge it in water does the back remain dry (I don't think so). They only thing CGC figured out, was how to make millions off of collectors. Quote fail. I didn't say that
  6. Now that is funny. Do you see what you did there? No, what? We're talking about comics being safe from animals. But your cats have never had any [comic] issues. So your cat doesn't collect comics. I'm one funny mofo. Funnier than Park. Not as funny as fingh
  7. Now that is funny. Do you see what you did there? No, what?
  8. I'm not interested in arguing. If you're seriously going to sit there and say that a bagged and boarded comic is equally as safe as a CGC-graded comic, then we have no business having a conversation. Good day. Whoa! Whoa! Settle down there Tex. We're just conversating here.
  9. As opposed to just being bagged and boarded, they are... Well no. Not really. I have two cats as well and have never had any issues And you ignored the rest of his post
  10. This is a pretty crappy attempt of an insult from a n00b. That's no noob
  11. While I get what you're saying here, even unslabbed comics tend to "just sit in a box" most of the time anyway. I have plenty of comics that I haven't looked at in years. Unless I am going to disassemble the comic, frame each page and hang them on my wall in page order, most of the comics will remain in a box almost all of the time.
  12. You can do that with a mylar and an acid free board. There seems to be this bizarre idea that in order to preserve the history, you need to entomb the comic.
  13. I'm getting this a lot this morning on recent threads but yes, I've also gotten it on older threads. Geez, can someone fix this? If this keep up, I might actually have to (gasp!) do work.
  14. Okay he's apologized. That's great but you seem to place more importance on that than you do on him righting the wrongs that landed him on the HoS list in the first place. As long as his name remains on the HoS list, it's fair game to bring it up. People don't earn a spot on that list based on frivolous reasons. They are there for a reason.
  15. You're tilting at the wrong windmill here Don. In the past, this board had a very strong self policing element. Whenever someone committed chicanery, the membership would make it very clear to the malefactor that they were no longer welcomed here. This was a good thing for the community and kept the nonsense under control to a degree. I applaud Pirate, or anyone, for keeping the spirit of that alive. We need more of that on these boards. The self policing attitude has become watered down as older members have drifted off. In many cases, lots of newer people here don't have the information and the history.
  16. I would agree with this it is disrespectful to take a graded comic and crack it for any reason other than to press it and have it bumbed up a grade (if possible) or signed. I don't even like restored so no don't do it. As for the readers please find a copy you can still read. To unslab a comic being a non-professional and in my personal opinion you will immediately decrease grade and value while its un-slabbed then put it in storage and mark the grade but the grade isn't the same anymore it got damaged. (?) Also just opening a cover can and will defect grade or looking through pages. If no 1 cares about grade and value a poor cheap 1 can be bought why pay top dollar for same words same artwork I truly wonder what people like you would have done in the pre-CGC days when you didn't have the almighty slabbing altar to pray at. Great googily moogily, what silliness
  17. I like it! It's a not so subtle F-U to the boards. Jerkfro approved
  18. Dude it’s weird you’re more concerned with title than the actual question I’m new here I’m not perfect but thanks for letting me know No problem. If you're interested you can take my descriptive thread titles course. I'm here to help.
  19. I don't think you can leave reputable boardies in suspense and disoriented. I just hit the mod button, and hit it hard. Fixed
  20. Just googled it, and you're right. That still doesn't explain why that's the title of this thread or the other thread by the OP. This is weird.
  21. The thread started by you is titled "Dranzer". Is Dranzer a who? Is Dranzer a what? Is Dranzer a thing? What's the deal?
  22. Wow, that is ridiculous. You could do the same thing yourself through a binding company for a hell of a lot less than that.
