  1. Just picked up these two babies Now I just have to wade through a bunch of Sparling & Speigle art. Ugh!!
  2. Rock was always my fav as well. Followed up by the Haunted Tank. My early years for comics consisted primarily of three types of books, Richie Rich, Uncle Scrooge, and DC war. Superheroes were of only superficial interest to me in those days, but they became much more interesting to me in my teens. I still remember my dad taking me to a comic book show in New Britain, CT, back in the late 70's and the only comics I wanted were war books. I remember buying OAAW 176, 242, Weird War 7 (I think) and SSWS 159. Another of my earliest books was that Weird War book where the two soldiers are fighting and the giant head comes out of the ground. I met John Severin at a show a few years ago and I told him how I basically grew up reading that stuff and he asked if I turned out okay as a result. I always thought (and still do think) that DC's war line was some of the best comics ever produced.
  3. Post what you have in this forum http://boards.collectors-society.com/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=comicsoffbay Read the stickied rules thread before doing so and prepare for a bunch of pm's asking what you have.
  4. I really like that cover. I don't think I've ever seen this book before.
  5. Two new additions to the Jeffro family I loves me some Kirby Thor
  6. That was the whole Marvel renumbering thing. Tried to relaunch titles with #1 issues, then after a couple years phased that out and went back to each title's original numbering... the transition issues had both numbers on the cover. Ah, thanks. I was right.
  7. Nice Shep. Real nice An underrated period in OAAW, imo.
  8. nice! if the ghouls don't get him, when he takes his next step he won't need to worry anyway! I'm developing a real appreciation for Cardy's work. I think he's highly underrated. Nice cover.
  9. What the hell is this "77 (492)" stuff? (I think I might know.) Sincere question. I haven't bought any moderns in about 5 years.
  10. I know I was surprised it received a 3.0. I graded it as a solid 3.5 . But.............but...............it's not a 9.8??
  11. I sold a 9.4 white of that book for $1250 or $1300 in 2004 so that is not far off. I wouldn't have guessed that particular book is so hard to find in 9.4. Perhaps it is. Congrats on the sale
  12. I have no idea what the GPA is on this book, but this seems high. http://www.comiclink.com/./itemdetail.as...C&id=662265 A 9.6 maybe, but certainly not a 9.4. I'm fully aware that I might be way off base here, but it seems very high.
  13. They're not 9.8's? By the way, that X-Men Annual 3 has one of the greatest comic scenes ever. Colossus hitting Arkon with a tree.
  14. I don't know if this is directed at me or not, but all I'm saying is be polite to people. Is that so wrong?
  15. With respects to everyone, I have to agree. Over on the WTB forum, one guy is looking for high grade Superman's from 1-300. Check out some of the negative responses there? What is so hard about being civil to people? Oh wait, this is the internet. Silly me.
  16. Oh good. More pointless *spoon*ing drama that would have been more appropriately conducted through email or PM. Not directed at you TiQuinn Love your Oddball avatar, btw
  17. I was wondering the same thing when that 9.6 Ghosts # 2 went up for I think about $1400 or close to that. They're probably hoping that someone will pull the trigger on that absurd price. I guess I can't fault anyone for trying.
  18. Thanks for the happy birthday You can see the back cover here http://boards.collectors-society.com/sho...e=1#Post1537677
  19. My one and only Jungle Comics. Front cover is quite nice and may be in 9.2 range, unfortunately the back cover drops it to about a 6.0, maybe 6.5
  20. Those Where Monsters Dwell are pretty sweet. Haven't seen some of those covers.
