  1. I was happy to pick up this weekend pairs of Spirou 1460 & 1468 (first black- & blonde-haired Smurfette) from 1966 with the mini-story included in all.

What I didn't know was that although the front cover has the usual France/Belgium/Switzerland pricing, there is some difference between the French and Belgium edition, mainly the add on the inner back cover.

In one case there is a nice Corn Flakes add featuring the Black Smurf.

  2. Here's the mini story attachment in the middle of the Spirou 1460:

    And Spirou 1468:

What's crazy is that some European collectors started to collect those mini-stories by themselves, hence it's not always easy to find Spirou with the attached mini story or other supplement like calendars or posters... Raises the bar in scarcity if you want a copy in high grade... and copies were quite randomly stapled along the spine so good luck in marrying a mini story with a comic book...

  3. Doesn't CGC take a picture of books they grade? Would be easy to reassign between French and Belgium editions and just use the revised classification...

Just to keep the Smurf love alive, a group pic! One more 1071 & 1072 are on their way :)

It includes issue 1460 (first ever Smurfette appearance - with black hair at the begining of the story) and 1468 (first blonde Smurfette as we know her today after Papa Smurf did his magic...)

Been hoarding those 1460 & 1468 but it's very hard to find them in any good shape because of the thin glossy cover and more difficult to get them complete with the mini-story still attached at the centerfold. Sure there will be a market at some point for those.

  5. Don't think they ever did. Different universe.

Gargamel first appeared in the Black Smurf (or Purple for the politically-correct US audience) in Spirou 1107.

That appearance is in the mini-comic (to be cut and assembled) in the centerfold.

Almost impossible to get in any good grade with the centerfold still attached and back cover uncut (they had the lovely idea of putting the mini-comic cover on the back cover...)
