  1. I was recently looking at that WR 10 at Metropolis. I'd almost talked myself into ordering it. Both of those issues of WR were reasonably priced, I thought. You're off to a great start!
  2. Here are a few more, which I don't think have been posted recently... I just adore that Romantic Marriage 24.
  3. The dimensions of these two are considerably larger, so I'll just post the links: Going Steady 12 True Love Pictorial 2
  4. These covers may have already been posted in this thread... I know for sure at least one of them has... but hey, they're just so good, I don't think it's possible to see them too often... Diary Secrets 26 Teen-Age Romances 39 Pictorial Romances 18
  5. (I don't know, is that image too big? Is there some way I can scale it down?) Here's another gem from the same collection: Going Steady 10 This cover is another of my favorites.
  6. During the many years I spent searching for my first copy of Cinderella Love 25, I also referred to it as the "Holy Grail". This is also my absolute favorite Baker cover. In 2003, I finally scored a nice Fine copy on eBay. Then, about a year ago, a local comic dealer friend of mine turned up an amazing original owner collection of oddball, esoteric Golden Age comics. And fortunately, I was one of the first customers to see it and pick out books I wanted. There was an impressive selection of St. John romance comics, including the nicest copy of Cinderella Love 25 I've ever seen. This scan is quite large, but I'll try posting it. In case it needs editing, I'll also provide a link to the image: Cinderella Love 25
  7. Blue Ribbon #2 is the first issue of the series that would eventually become Diary Secrets. It's the first comic to bear that title. Blue Ribbon #4 (titled Teen-Age Diary Secrets) is DS #2, and Blue Ribbon #5 (also titled TADS) is DS #3. Then, the series officially titled Teen-Age Diary Secrets begins, correctly numbered #4. The following issue has no number, and no indicia, but is TADS #5. The numbering is picked up again with #6, and the series runs through issue #9. (#7 and #9 are digest sized issues, with identical contents, but different covers.) Finally, the series officially titled Diary Secrets begins with issue #10, and runs through #30. With the exception of issues 21, 22, and 23, all of the stories in Diary Secrets #10 through #30 were reprinted from other St. John titles, and from earlier Ziff-Davis romance titles. Only the covers were new.
  8. OK, Jack! Now back to the lab...or maybe a coffee break. I HATE it when that happens. Jack Me too! I was chased out of the lab by circumstances (Fate) beyond my control! Just another bad day in the lab...
  9. That's interesting. I also have both issues of All Picture All True Love Story, and there's not a single Canteen Kate story in either of my copies. (Obviously, contents will vary.) My issue 1 contains Teen-Age Romances 16, 22, and 23. My issue 2 contains Teen-Age Romances 24, and Wartime Romances 7 and 8.
  10. A closer look at your Phantom Lady 17? (Unless it's already posted somewhere?)
  11. Sweet! I like seeing these classic women, without the familiar background imagery of the comic. I always thought they were great pin-up girls. I once created a high quality reproduction of the classic Phantom Lady 17 cover. Then I illustrated a few paste-overs showing (ahem...) alternate versions of what her costume looked like beneath her utility belt. Wish I still had that... It's interesting that Phantom Lady 16 is the only issue in which the title character is not featured prominently on the cover. (Who IS that sultry blonde in the alluring negligee...) I have one more request to make... Blue Beetle 54. (BOTH girls.)
  12. I really like the subjects you've chosen. Great job, too! The figures I'd like to see are those from the covers of Phantom Lady 16, 17, and Seven Seas 6. Have you done any of those?
  13. Vince Colletta is the one most often accused of lackluster inking of Baker's stories for Atlas.
  14. Which issue of Stories of Romance are those scans from?
  15. I think Joanna has a copy. I just want a copy. Joanna has a copy of #1, but no #2. However, with her talent for turning up scarce Bakers, it shouldn't be long before she finds one! I'm surprised she hasn't found it already...
  16. Another one that's super tough is All-Picture All-True Love Story #2, Nov., 1952 (a St. John giant rebound composite of earlier books). I saw one on eBay in 2003, and I won the D copy on Heritage in 2007, and those two copies are the only ones I know of. The scan of this book at the GCD is the D copy. Does anyone else have this book, or know of other copies? GCD All-Picture All-True Love Story 2
  17. Ditto that! The book wasn't even discovered until a few years ago...
  18. Gorgeous cover, perhaps my favorite Diary Secrets cover. I have a CGC 5.0 copy. (Your copy looks pretty nice, too.) But the toughest DS issue, in my experience, is 13. I've only ever seen two copies.
  19. Nice selection! So... which ones are for sale?
