I've pre-ordered from Amazon... I've also purchased some of the other Showcase titles... Excellent, now I'll have to find someone else to feed to my veracious pet Gregory.

I don't have an opinion because I'm kinda in the same boat. I've just sold two CGC slabs this past week and both buyers contacted me saying how undergraded the book was and that they were going to crack it and resub it. with that said, I may need to seek out cheaper and time effecient alternatives especially if this mixed bag continues. The big hold up with me purchasing PGX books were restoration detection, but in light of certain events-my reservations have been abated. In terms of PGX prices, I have no clue. A rule of thumb may be to expect 80% of the equivalent CGC GPA price. For example: I snagged a HOS #122 PGX 9.4 for about $40; normally a CGC price would neet anywhere to $65 to $100 depending on demand. If you have profit room from there, then do it. Warning: I've just used the PIDOMA method; it's a term I use for my project management analysis. A no prize to whomever first correctly guesses the acronymn. In the final analysis--perform a JIT analysis of the market when you sell and guage the market. So far, you've done well and I don't see that trend changing since you already have a working formula that just needs small changes.

Talked to Steve a few nights ago--nice guy. I've recently bought some raw and certified Don Rosa books. I'll post 'em when I get em. I'm expecting certs with my raw books as well.

Yep, I agree to a certain extent, as far as surrounding issues go--but it doesn't have that flooded feel like some of the other 52pagers I see on sale all the time. I remember when rocketeer bought some still in the bags (included HOS 95 and WH 20) and they both graded 9.4 with White pages where he approximately made a 100% return when he sold them.

Yep...know thy competitors...I found out about this some time ago, but thanks for the post. Why ubber CGC graded books fit into this is beyond my comprehension, only except its horror related. Dice, I love the cut on your book. One of my concerns on bidding on the Don Rosa is that the cut pushes everything to the right margin---although its consistent, it makes for a fugly book.

You would change your tune if you certified 9.0 and 9.2 copies and consistently lost money on each one you sold. I've bought from jscomics and the prices get too high and the grading is too liberal for my tastes.But you said CGC graded? Wow, haven't seen a grading job botched that bad by the boys at Sarasota.

I kick myself for selling my 9.4/9.6 copies....WH is one of those series I haven't taken too seriously from a collecting standpoint--hence the reason why I have many 9.0/9.2 books in my collection. I find myself buying more reading copies (well for reading), so I can equalize my purchases from these ubber graded copies. So I guess I'm a bi-polar collector...

Cool #10 shots. Gives me hope that all is not lost. I've got a ton of PS issues as well, when I can get them on the cheap.

Won this tonight for under $200... unfortunately marlede snapped the #28 CGC 9.6 copy from under me...but had to pay handsomely for it... POOR MUFFIN!

Absolutely. I just want to complete my run, and it's been 2 years since a certified copy has been for sale. Demand simply driving the price up. Rock Hill is literally a 40 minute drive for me. Except for the top of the book, it looks pretty good. The thing is, there are an increasing number of HG players in this market, so I see the trend going up, unfortunately. But you aren't laughing at me, are you?

That's why I'm afraid of the marlede bidding. He's effectively replaced redf1shing in my mind. He collects mainly Halloween memorabilia, so I don't quite understand the HG motive...oh well. I was able to snag the Ghosts #15 CGC 9.8 copy for "only" $270. I feel that may be my last win for these books.

This was one of the first Ghosts issue I picked up as a kid. Another Luis Dominguez classic, and reminds me of HOS #2. $20!

an upgrade of my 9.6 copy...I got this for just a few bucks more than what the FTDM #7 CGC 9.4 Don Rosa copy went for...to its credit that is the only currently certified copy.

so true. I think the mood for today is 9.2...that copy is the nicest I've seen. PS are a breeze (as with most books) if you don't want high or ubber grades. I can pick up PS books avg 7.0 for a buck each. I'm reading the stories now and so far I think that the series is super. I would really love a 9.6 or 9.8 copy of that book one day.

what's your grade on that PS #10 copy...9.0?

John, Did you say you essentially have a HG Phantom Collector set? Are they CGC certified? I've missed out on a bunch of issues lately but would eventually like to have a set. #10 has a ROCKIN' Neal Adams cover (reminds me of HOM 174 with the beckoning gesture) and I never see a high grade copy, and there's none in the census. Could this be the equivalent of HOM 190 of this series? Somebody please prove me wrong.
