A comic book in a CGC holder is encapsulated in a new CGC holder. The grade assigned to the book should not change, unless any damage occurred post-encapsulation, in which case the grade will be adjusted accordingly. To qualify, the book must still be encapsulated in its original CGC holder.

Most modern Marvel books (sorry can't speak for DC) have a little sticker on the back of the book that covers up a code that unlocks a digital version on your PC, iPod, etc. (run by comxiology). Almost all Marvel books have them now-a-days. It seems that they are targeting those who collect the books or resells for profit with those who want to read the books without putting any stress on their collectable.

I'm not completely familiar with the pressing process (something that flattens your book that helps in the grade by ironing out wrinkles and some blemishes). Some places I read use chemicals. While others use heat or steam.

What I'm in search of is if anyone knows if this process effects the sticker. Does the chemicals or heat loosen up the sticker.

This also ties into another post I had about if the sticker effects the grade of the book or not.

    Thanks for asking.

I know it sometimes leaves a little square mark on the back cover, so I would love to hear someone that knows about this as well., I saw an article about it, when I re locate it I will get that link to you. will also ask a guy that presses for people in a comic shop near here and try to get his in put as well. good luck and you get a real answer before then please, share it with me

Slab them because of the art that you will no longer be able to see? Mylars protect books just fine. The only reason to slab is to sell, or determine its grade and therefore, it's value!

you just gotta look over that part, comes with the territory. I have a few I got graded that is because I love the comic personally and wanted it graded since it was of my favorite character, some only are in for the profit margin, twhich is ok for them, but some collect what they want and means to them, like me. You want them graded, do it. now if they wanna pay for your bill?? hey then it may not be like the proverbial you know what that every one has.

I'll note Chris Claremont did his in-house signing yesterday. I would also bet money that he probably drew the most books out of all their guests, so expect the waits to stay long while they clear out the SigSeries priority queue and return to Modern backlog.

On the flip-side, as one who has had several orders queued up for Chis' signature since May, it is exhilarating to see their status change to SFG! Apologies in advance to everyone else (me included) whose "lowly" moderns are being pushed back again.

it is what it is bro, I wish I had been able to get a signing myself,

I am beyond sick, I have a lot of comics and very little room to store them so needless to say I have many many short boxes. Well I found out today that the boxes with runs that are just over packed has messed up a lot of my books. the spine on one in front of the other if moved over out of line caused an indention down the next book. I can't believe I never saw this coming. should I not just take some out ( which will lead to more boxes) but also turn them all front to back? A friend said 3 words, buy a press. I looked at you tube videos and they all do it different??? So learn from my mistake any other newbies, it's heart wrecking. Thank goodness it wasn't every box. Any input other than laughing at my pain? I have already removed comics so they have breathing room, also tried cussing and throwing objects so start from there. Thanks and maybe say a prayer I don't just blow my brains out. Peace.

follow up question, if you can cold press one like this, can you cold press it back flat in time??? and should I be sorting them back to front the whole way through?

No, u can submit as many or few as u want for grading & pressing.  There are some extra services which   require a minimum number of books like 'pre screening' where they will examine the books for a smaller fee before proceeding

Thanks so much, I think I got my path laid out now. Can't thank Y'all enough for putting up with me. Peace

    thanks for your service.

Think of the Fair Market Value, which drives the Submission Level along with age, as an insurance value should something happen to the book while CGC has it.  It also drives the USPS shipping fee back to you.  CGC may tell you that they bumped the book up to a more expensive tier though & charge you that level.  From what I've read on the boards, it doesn't happen that often (never happened to me).  At any rate it's a question of how much risk you're comfortable with vs how much time you're willing to wait (especially with an accompanying press).

One way to get an idea of the condition of a book is to post pics/scans in the "Buddy Can You Spare a Grade" forum where members will offer their opinions.  Then you can look at Ebay completed sales or other sites to see what comics at that grade sold for

Keep in mind. shipping 1 book maximizes your shipping costs.  For ex 1 book could cost you $32 with USPS while 5 books *in the same submission tier* cost you a little over $5 per book.

    Best of luck.

Thank you brother, so I can just submit 1 or 2 books and they will be accepted for pressing then? I thought someone posted it had to be a minimum number of books, that part is also confusing me.
