  1. Staples are tight, cover is secured, lots of unseen “pressable” defects on the cover (non-color breaking creasing). Pretty standard book for its age, just looking for some opinions as to which end of my estimated range it falls...thanks again.
  2. Hi, looking for opinions on the grade. I saw this book seems to have jumped in price lately, kind of cool to see Havok get some attention. Thanks in advance!
  3. Hi, anybody have a copy of Fantastic Four #6 they would like to trade for ASM #16 CGC 6.5? I think trade value for the ASM is somewhere in the $575 range, using the sold records at comics.gocollect.com I would be looking to trade for a similarly valued copy of FF#6, raw/ungraded copy is fine. Have a great weekend everybody, stay safe!
  4. I think I cracked it, not the staples but why the book was disassembled in the first place. Looks like the pinup spread was replaced. I’ll attach some photos but the spine crease looks off, and it appears there are staple holes not being used!!!
  5. Thanks for all the responses again, I received the book today and wow it’s a beaut. It was really fun flipping through these pages, I have wanted this one for awhile. The staples definitely look “not-tight” as suspected, and the centerfold is barely attached. All the paper throughout looks consistent and there are plenty of bleed through a to confirm. I guess best case scenario somebody disassembled and reassembled using original staples(?). Would really appreciate opinions on if these staples look right for the year (1964, Jul). I’ll attach a bunch of photos below. Oh yea, and I checked the staples on the inside cover and did not recognize any patchwork or glue.
  6. Roger that, excellent suggestion. I also plan to compare staple size to some of my other silver age books from similar years. Also, I agree regardless of staples it’s a very nice book, I am looking forward to investigating its potential manipulation over the years.
  7. Again, I really appreciate you taking a look and giving me your insight. I will post some better photos once I receive it, should be within a week or 2. I will be sure to take a look at the inside cover as well to check for glue etc. I agree with you, one of the staples is not closed completely. Once I post more photos I would really appreciate opinions on whether the staples were replaced, or look correct for the age of the book.
  8. In case anybody is interested, I went ahead and BOUGHT THE BOOK! I realize the risk inherent, but I think it’s a good looking book regardless, and it was a good price. I should get it in a week or 2, I will post some more detailed photos juuuust in case anybody wants to see. I would still appreciate more input from folks who continue to view this post. Thanks to everybody who has commented.
  9. Yes, it could be anything. But the seller is very knowledgeable so I would hope that would have been identified. I think there is a good chance that the pinup was replaced. The only thing that makes me think it wasn’t replaced is the staples and page/spine creases line up well, and the seller stated that the page quality also matched.
  10. The seller is trusted, but states the tearing could have been caused by either (1) normal wear and tear or (2) centerfold pinup replacement. He did state the centerfold paper matches the rest of the book, so there is consistency there.
