  1. There IS no top level for Hulk since his strength is tied to his anger/rage. The madder he gets the stronger he gets so there's no way to say where his power level stops. Now, I'd agree with you that Big G would stop Hulk on any given Sunday in a regular book, but throw them into a MAX book and have Big G cut off Betty's head in front of Hulk and I bet Hulk could take him. Also, there was an issue of Fantastic Four where the Invisible Woman took out Galactus by herself by stabbing him with a really big invisible spear. I think it was her "Malice" persona or just after. As far as the FF are concerned Sue is the most powerful hands down.
  2. I think it was 8. You were both close. But picking up Thor's hammer isn't a feat of strength. Its inscribed with "who so ever lifts this hammer, be he worthy, shall weild the power of Thor" or something to that effect. Captain America also picked up Thor's hammer in an issue of Avengers. Also, in Thor vol 2, even Thor couldn't lift his hammer during the "Spiral" storyline (set in the future) because he was no longer worthy to do so. So its not a matter of strength but a matter of nobility or "worthiness".
  3. i hope he wasn't standing on the ground when he picked something that heavy up. there's not a substance in the world that could handle the pounds per square inch load that would be going through his feet at the time My question is, is there a substance in the universe that would even WEIGH 500,000 tons if you shaped it into the size and shape of the key to the Fortress of Solitude? i haven't seen the key. . a cubic foot of iridium is over thirteen hundred pounds, while 24k gold is about twelve hundred. lead is a mere 708 He made it out of some substance from Alpha Centuri-5 or Rydjel-7. In All-Star #2 he states he made the key from the matter of a white dwarf star. Though the point is moot if we are talking about the strongest Marvel characters only.
  4. This gives me a chance to really geek out....Reminds me of the Smallville episode where Clark is playing football and hurts a member of the other team when Mr. Mytzplikt (whatever?) jinxes him and causes him to trip. Clark and Pa Kent get into a big arguement and Clark notes that he has always had to use extreme caution in every situation (handshakes, hugs, etc...). As an aside, we find out in All-Star Superman #2 that Supes is able to lift 100's of millions of tons. The key to the Fortress of Solitude weighs a 1/2-million tons itself. I think it's a matter of "power control" learned over time. All that being said, I cannot see the Hulk having the patience for sewing. Ahhh, that felt good. Good point. Though, as far as the Hulk sewing.. I think it would depend on who's writing him. If Peter David is writing then Hulk might do it just to [embarrassing lack of self control] off Bruce. . But I agree. Learned control. Look at IH #82 when Hulk was beating up his gray version. "You don't get it. You are what I was. I'm a lot more now." Something to that effect. Smart Hulk can think and reason and can control his power.
  5. Well, if you're sticking with the most powerful in the MU then it has to be either Hulk or Silver Surfer. Hulk for sheer brute strength. Nothing can stop Hulk since the madder he gets the stronger he gets so there's no top to his scale. Now Silver Surfer has to rate since not only does he have a shell that protects him from well, pretty much everything he also has powers that can rearrange molecules which mean's he could just make the Hulk's molecules jump two feet from each other without the Hulk even getting near him.
