The grading is done.
Well, it took almost a month before the CGC got to grading my comics and let me tell you that was a very long month. Since these were my first ones the anticipation was building every week I would check on the status and there they were sitting in the verified status. Finally, the grading part was done this week and I do say for my first ones I did good.
The comics I sent were a set that I remember reading when they came out and that I had forgot about until just recently. The series is Shogun Warriors and it only lasted 20 issues. This was a series that I wished they would have kept going, but for unknown reasons they stopped. I decided it was time to get a good set that I could pass on to my sons. After looking around and trying to see what was out there, I purchased 12 issues from someone that had said they had been put in storage when they first came out and have never been circulated. I was a little skeptic, but believed these could be in good condition and paid a little more than what most people would for raw comics. When I recieved them I could tell that they were in very good condition and decided not to open them or anything, just send them off to get graded.
Well, the initial grading is done and if these grades are finalized, I couldn't be more happier, especially since these are my first ones ever to get graded. I recieved 4-9.8's, 7-9.6's and one 9.4 and Issue #1 is one of the 9.8's. I was very surprised and delighted, because I have never seen a 9.8 or even a 9.0 in person, so I would say for my first comics I think I did very well.
Now I have to wait until they get shipped so I can see them for the first time with their new covers. I know some people say that its best to buy comics already graded, because it's so hard to tell the condition, but here is one instance that buying raw actually worked in my favor.
Now, if I can only remember the guy I bought these from so I can get more. Thanks for letting me share my expereince.
