  1. Describing my first experience with Comic Verification Authority. I just received my first batch of books back from CVA today. I do have to say, it was a very pleasant experience. For those of you who don't know what CVA is, it's an additional verification only given to the books "exceptional" eye appeal. To use the words of one of the owners Joe. I've never really agreed with the way a lot of these books in the "pressed book era" look. I get it, CGC uses a point scale. Some of these books with their mis-wrapping and poor centering look horrible. However are still assigned the 9.8 grade(LOOK AT THE ATTACHED PICTURE YOU'LL SEE WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT). The books with the CVA sticker on them are put in a data base using their CGC number a registered as the "best of the best". I consider myself an elitist and I will be looking for the CVA label on books I purchase from now on. They're just better looking. Also, for those looking for honest and personalized service? I was shocked at how well I was treated! Well done CVA crew! I'm not easily impressed. For those of you wondering, 3 of the 5 books I sent in received the "Exceptional" grade. I was kinda bummed out about the 2 that didn't make the grade. After comparing the books, I see why they didn't. Take a look at them in my sets if it pleases you. They are Amazing Spider-Man #'s 175, 172 and 161. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  2. Where do I go from here? Well, It has taken me just about 17 months but, I have completed my two goals. Amazing Spider-Man #201-#300 and Amazing Spider-Man McFarlane. Both complete sets. All books 9.8with WHITE pages. It wasn't easy and It wasn't cheap! The last 17 month have been filled with a lot of late night auctions, and a bunch of wheeling and dealing! There's nothing more thrilling than the last seconds of a auction! Who wants it more? Did I bid enough or am I going to lose by $.50? I think that's the hook. For some reason I feel no sense of accomplishment! These two sets are awesome! I look at them all the time but, what's next? Of course I have other great sets as well I could work on. The odds are, I may not finish the #101-#200 run before I end up homeless. And there's not a ton of collectability moving forward. What's my next move? Where do I go from here? Do I sell them and start over (not likely?) I don't know. I seek adventure! The thrill of the chase! I want to know where do I set my sights on now? Do I go for the complete run or just keep going from 328 to current? I don't know. I guess I just needed to get that off my chest. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is my first journal but, I know a lot of you from eBay or off site deals. My intentions are pure. My sets 100% compete with scans and purchase prices. Check them out. Let me know what you think.
