  1. I am pretty sure I will be getting a resto guy to hep out with this definitely. The book does look brittle, and I want to make sure its removed from the case safely. Then as well see if he can do anything to the spine that is covered with glue... not sure if thats a possibility though. We'll see. EDIT: Its not that I dont like the PGX slab, actually the new PGX slabs are not bad at all in my opinion. They feel very much like how CGC's old slabs used to be. What I hate about PGX though is the embarrassment affiliated with owning a PGX slab. It just isnt taken seriously.
  2. That aint a shabby idea. I emailed a pro comic restore dude and let him know the situation. He does lots of restoration on old documents and what not and of course some big books like AF15 and what not. I think I might do the framing. Lots of people make very good points about the splash page being cool, but my big beef is that PGX case and its reputation for such a cool book....
  3. CBCS does .3: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Incredible-Hulk-1-CBCS-3-OW-W-Like-CGC-1st-Hulk-Appearance-COVERLESS-KEY/233385810166?hash=item3656e0d8f6:g:OscAAOSw7Z5dutZI
  4. LOL. Send the label too "This was graded by you guys, can you just reslab it, thx" haha
  5. Yeah but it being a PGX book.... wouldn't it lower the value of it keeping it in PGX case?
  6. That is legit a good idea. Never thought of that actually lol! I guess I just would like the repro cover to make it feel more "complete"
  7. I am well aware of PGX's practices when it comes to grading lol. I asked them several times over if it was missing any pages and they stated no. So we'll see when it comes time...
  8. To my knowledge it needs to be attached for them to grade it... I could be wrong though but that was my impression. Hopefully someone can chime in on this.
  9. Hey there. Hope you are doing well! I have acquired an Action Comics 4 graded through PGX (ugh) and I am looking to hopefully get a reproduction cover on and graded through CGC. I have the reproduction cover which includes the front, back, interior front and interior back that is to the size of the comic. I would also make sure there is no over hang or anything like that. I also have PGX grading notes: Coverless/tape along spine & top edge, brittle at three corners These are the only notes. Coverless would normally be a .5 but with the brittle corners it was graded a .3. Book is complete though besides missing front/back cover. I can tell you upon close inspection it does appear brittle. It also appears that someone glued a cover on it prior and removed it as you can see along the spine. My plan is to remove it from the PGX case and put the repro cover on it, but my question is, if I use archival tape to attach the cover/back cover repro wrap (its a one piece just like a normal wrap) would it maintain a universal .5 grade or would CGC label it NG cause of its condition? (I want to avoid getting a no grade). I def want to if possible get a blue label (no restore purple label) so non restoration would be ideal (Like I mention I would use archival tape to attach cover to the book) Do you think this is possible for this book? Also, how "attached" does the cover need to be to the book? Can I use like 3 small pieces of archival tape to attach it to the book and it'd be fine? Or would I need to attach it along the whole spine with archival tape? Or do you think its too risky to even do anything like that and should I leave it as is? Sorry for so many questions, I just really want the best for my investment in this book and I consider CGC to be the best. Thank you, -Ryan
  10. Looking for instructions or a video tutorial on attaching a cover to a book using archival tape. I want to make sure I do it right, and don't really know where to start. Any help would be awesome! Thanks!
  11. I messaged him, highly doubt he'll message back unfortunately... Any help would be appreciated in this matter!
  12. I recently acquired a coverless action comics 4 that I would love to get a repro cover of. Doesn't need to be perfect in terms of quality, but would love to have it exact size if possible. Does anyone provide this kind of service?
  13. If you have pictures post em up, we'll tell you which are worth money and which are worthless. Otherwise, gpacomics is a good site, ebay sold listings as well. Theres facebook groups too you can join that are comic revolved too.
  14. Hey everyone, hopefully a quick question for you guys. If I purchase a coverless action comics and then reprint the cover (like at staples or something on a nice thick paper) would CGC still give it a NG cause the cover is missing? Would it be a different color label? Would it say on the label "cover reprinted"? Same question, but with pages.... if a page is missing and I reprint it, what will it be graded at?
