The puckering on the spine is due to the way the cover was glued to the pages. Pressing will not remove that. Good news is CGC considers that part of production. I have seen many high grade copies of this book with goofy spines.

As far as the pressing goes you cannot stay away from the staples, they are essentially on the cover. To the OP's comment, they are not misaligned, hey are where they should be. Someone who knows what they are doing can press this without causing additional damage. That's why you need to use someone reputable and with lots of experience. Having pressed hundreds of books is not a lot of experience. Ask if they have experience with square-bound books. Again, the staples affecting the covers is considered a production issue. I have worked on, and seen copies of this book with the staples popping through the cover get 9.4.

The short answer is yes, a proper dry cleaning and press will benefit this book. On a side note, always show both covers as we are making an assessment on only 50% of the comic (thumbsu

wow thanks for the response , amazing how people give there time to newbies like me , i wish i had the expertise to give back but i inherited my collection and therefore have not grown up with comics and i think that's how you learn most of the time.i have attached the back cover which i think is in pretty decent condition.

i was looking to use CGC pressing services when i submit for a grade , do they do a decent job

  2. thanks everyone , i know little about grading but i tend to agree with the lower grades only because i have looked at some 6 and 7 grades and some of them look better than mine.

it does have nice eye appeal and would probably look good when slabbed so i will send it off and update the post  with the actual grade.

Thanks jeffro for  the cgc uk site  info

  3. Hi There folks , just wondering if it is worth sending my Giant size x-men to be graded.i live in the uk so it will cost a bit more , around $150 incl postage, press etc.

I think i got a good deal a year ago when i paid £400 for it.

Haven't got a clue what grade it might get but depending on your comments it might help me to decide

Most of the defects seem to be around the edges ,particularly the bottom,  front and back cover looks really nice, all pages intact and staples seem  in really good condition.fullsizeoutput_29a.thumb.jpeg.16207b78e61a3b0323f6aacc332ff14d.jpeg
