Over my brief new hobby of collecting comic books (silver age/ Bronze) I came across multiple books with some paint over spray here and there. Of course I understand why and how this happens but my question is - does CGC lower the grade of the book due to the over spray ? For example looking at a key issue, expensive book . it is graded very well at 9.2 . However has some over spray yet minor on it. Was that take into consideration when graded ? Would of book got a higher grade if not there ? Or would book still grade 9.2 either way as the over spray is acceptable ? Thanks

Ok - so should I leave it as is ? Does that make the book more desirable or more valuable ? From the sounds of Pedigree It would suggest yes leave alone. Like I stated Im still learning things . thanks

I obtained a book and on the label it has from the personal collection of Mister Magik Woo . Obviously he is somebody to be noted on the label. Pretty much my question is -should I leave this alone and keep as it is or should I get recased and have his name removed form label? I personally don't care for that label with his name on it that is why Im asking, but at same time don't want to recase and remove if he is somebody special and it adds to the overall appeal or value of the book with him noted on it ? Still new to the hobby that is why Im asking. Thanks

I agree with everything you said two piece, that's why I want to send to CGC for those reasons, just hate the thought it coming back lower grade than it is. Im no worried about the book condition itself as confident it is 8.0 all day, maybe higher. Just wasn't sure how CGC held such issues against a book as Im still fairly new to the hobby. Will just do it and hope for the best . Thanks to all who chimed in.

Yes- it is graded 8.0 white by CBCS. It is a key book . I would prefer to have it CGC but my fear is it grades lower due to the writing on the back . I realize there is risk either way but knowing if CGC penalizes the grade due to the writing on the back is key in my decision to sending in for CGC grading. If they deduct due to this I probably just leave it alone with the way it is, if they don't hold that against the grade then I take my chances and resubmit to CGC hope for the best. Thanks

So lets assume if there was no number written on the back and it would of received a grade of 8.0. Would the book still receive the 8.0 with this on the back or would it be penalized due to this and grade lower ? Thanks
