  1. Basically to the folks that think this doesn't matter  - they are correct -  it DOES NOT MATTER TO THEM which I respect

    however

they should understand it may matter to a lot of people -     I personally have several books with the NY spidey label and I purchased it because it was sold as available only for a short time and was exclusive!

I really like the idea of exclusive labels and to be honest if an af15  4.5    with the spidey label was the same price or even a bit more and  same grade without  I would get it with the label - thus immediately adding credibility to the fact that labels have value.

  2. A while back CGC came out with the really cool concept of adding artwork to labels.

They then created demand by 'vaulting labels'  so if you were lucky and got your book graded while a label was available it felt 'special'

They just announced they are un-vaulting the NY spiderman label

    WHY?>????

This totally takes away from the whole idea of vaulting in the first place -   graded slabs with a highly sought after label were desirable - now it no longer matters - you might as well just not vault anything and have a 100+ to choose from on a drop down

Bad decision to un-vault -   period.  Keep things rare and keep the feeling that you had special labelled slabs -   design new labels instead -  do not un-vault any additional labels - please.

The way the scoring works is so flawed

A person who spends 8 years daily searching and submitting to build an almost full 9.8 set  (including 1 of 4, 1 of 5 in the world ultra ultra rare issues etc) achieves 70 / 72   9.8's in the set   gets a score of 20000.

That person cannot afford a 1st issue #1   where the cheapest versions of a mid grade of the book are 30k  etc

A  ?collector?  buys a 9.2 copy of #1  -  doesn't work on or collect any of the other 73 titles - just a 9.2 of #1  and his score is 24000   (4k higher than someone who has obviously built a massively better set than a single purchase) -

    Solution..

since this is a SET Collector's society   you should  make the official rank based on  % >9.8    achieved     on the set      so  a person who buys a 9.2 copy of issue 1 might be  #14 on the value ranking but  they are really un-ranked on the set collectors ranking

I am just venting as I find it ridiculous that a person can buy a single book and be ranked higher than someone who has been building a full set for years and years LOL

This obviously only works for modern sets where full 9.8 runs are achievable -  silver and golden age sets would of course be based on a much lower grade threshold

  5. I am very interested in the #13  (TMNT Mirage)

Will that also be available at Pedigree soon??

I Can't believe you are selling - but hey!  A brand new house for you at the end of the auction!!!   Here is hoping the #1 Turtles tops 300k!

I just need the 13 to finish my full 9.8 set!!!!

  6. Anybody else think its wrong that  someone with a single 9.4 first edition TNMT  has a score of 41000   (worth $30K-$40K)

and someone who has collected 93% of the first edition in 9.8 has a score of 14000  ?    (set worth currently $50K - $60K)

I am not a fan of putting first edition first print worth 120000 points  and the rest of the set worth a grand total of far less than that

  7. Please add the following comics to this set (reprints of #1 1984)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1   INSIGHT Editions, 2014  ULTIMATE VISUAL HISTORY       sample cert: 3698313012

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1   IDW Publishing, 2019  PLAYMATES 35 YEARS         sample cert: 373683002

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1   IDW Publishing, 2020  LOOT CRATE EDITION        sample cert: 3696217004

point values for these can be standard  - no huge points needed.

    thanks!

  8. All scores below updated on 1/5/21. I did not change TMNT #1 as the scores are accurate. The sales prices are actually all over the map for different grades.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Volume 1)

#1 first print  -  the score is wayyy too high -  yes it is the $$$ holy grail of the set but simply spending 10k dollars on a 9.0 shouldn't put you ahead of collectors that have spent ages building their sets

this should be 10000 for a 9.8   5000 for a 9.6   3000 for a 9.4  and then downward from there  (adjust 2nd and 3rd and 4th and 5th  prints to align to the new standard)

#3,4,5,6,7,18,32    2nd print(s) (and  #2 3rd print) -  these are  rarer and more sought after than the first prints -  scores should be significantly higher  - in order of rarity and difficulty to obtain   #32,#6,#4,#5,#18,#7,#3,#2

#11 and #14  - very hard to find issues   - scores need a mild bump

#13  impossible -  this is the grail of the back issues - I honestly would put this score at 1k++

#16 second only to #13 in rarity and extremely hard to find ( only 2      9.8 exist)

#17 and #28  very rare   with #28 being rarer

Raphael #1  this book is exploding right now - I would give it a bump

rest of set looks good with the exception of Raphael 2nd print (needs a score bump as well!)

  9. Set: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Volume 1)       these 2 additions are key comics associated with the creation of the TMNT

    1) please add the black and white gobbledygook #1 1984      - make it worth a lot of points (5k or more for 9.8)  First appearance of fugitoid.

    2) You should add The Comics Journal #89 - make it worth like 1000 points for 9.8     -   this is the first cameo appearance of Leonardo in print.

    3) Please add turtlemania special #1   worth like 500 points for a 9.8

    Hello @Magmar,

After input from some fellow members, I have decided to remove the slots you originally requested for this set. Please note that the books are not technically part of TMNT Vol. 1 nor are the published by Mirage Studios. These would be a great addition to a custom set. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
