  1. Thanks. I was thinking around a 3.0. So far I have a 2.5 and a 3.5 estimate. All roughly in the same ballpark.
  2. I'm no expert. I take a guess as to not be initially swayed and then look at examples on-line to see if I was close. If so, I will post a grade. Otherwise I usually don't post. Probably the best way to compare is with books already CGC graded. But it's sometimes difficult to get a really good look thru the slab. I will look at sites like https://www.superworldcomics.com/buying/grading-your-comic-books/ and others that have more examples. But who's to say they are right and CGC would have the same opinion.
  3. I don't think I've ever seen such a discrepancy on grading here. I, and others, are in the 5.0-5.5 camp. Others 7.0-8.0. One 6.5 I think. Not a lot of middle ground. Would be great to see what it would get CGC slabbed at. It's funny actually. I'm thinking no way it comes close to a 7.0. Others it's a 7.0 "all day long" and I'm sure they are thinking no way it's a 5.0-5.5.
  4. I really wasn't copying your post. We cross posted. I was checking out some examples (https://www.superworldcomics.com/buying/grading-your-comic-books/) before hitting the Submit Reply button. I guess great minds think alike. And yea, nice babe (book).
  5. 2.5-3.0. Missing pieces on back cover is the major deduction, IMO.
  6. No, although it does appear to be. The tear is only about 1/2". The rest is a crease. Right in line with the tear.
  7. Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking a bit lower.
  8. Thanks! Any chance I could impose on you to do a grade estimate on my Blackhawk #97 book that's further down on this thread?
  9. First off, if you own this book, congratulations! I hate going first because I'm not that good of grader. As is maybe a 5.0? C&P improvement? I didn't zoom into the photos, but I really only noticed the front cover, bottom right that might benefit from a press. Cleaning mainly removes dirt/grime (fingerprints), right? Front cover looks to be mostly stains that I don't think a cleaning would help. Back cover might get some improvement. Increase with a C&P. Maybe a .5 improvement? But with a book this expensive I think the only mistake with a C&P is not getting it done.
  10. One time bump to hopefully get some feedback. Thanks!
  11. One time bump to hopefully get some feedback. Thanks!
  12. Is it acceptable to do a one time bump if your post receives no feedback and scrolls off the front page in less than 24 hours? Asking before doing.
  13. No interior damage or defects. There is a 1/2" tear on back cover.
  14. No interior damage or defects. Thanks in advance.
  15. Thanks for your opinion. I guess I way overestimated this one. But that's why I do this. So I don't list a book for sale at a higher grade than it deserves. I had the same book slabbed at a 9.2. But sold it to my wife a long time ago. It's steadily increased in value. Doh! At least I kept it in the family.
  16. 8.0 seems low to me. I don't care what some people say, newer books are judged more harshly than silver / gold, even bronze age books. I usually hesitate to slab newer books for that reason. I think you could have listed this book on Ebay at a higher grade than 8.0 and not have been deceiving anyone. Once it's slabbed you have to take what you get.
  17. Ouch. I thought a bit higher. Thanks for the feedback.
  18. Not a high $$$ book, but grade opinions may help me with others. Thx!
  19. Thanks for the feedback guys. Time to get out my wife's curling iron and press that sucker Seriously though, what does a press cost these days? Any recommendations?
  20. So any updated grade opinions now after the press? That may be a loaded question, because I don't think my initial scans showed the minor staining on the top back cover. These updated, post pressed ones do. Post press images are the ones with the yellow paper background. Planning to list this semi-minor book. The grading has me confused due to the waving/bending (correct term?) on the covers. It definitely could benefit from a good pressing. But not sure how to factor that into the grading. Did the best I could to show everything in the photos, but it didn't come across as well as I'd have liked. Opinions greatly appreciated.
  21. You nailed it . They say it's better to give than receive, so maybe I gave a couple of people a nice, under priced holiday gift. I should have been wearing my Santa cap when I put them up for auction.
  22. UPDATE: Final Auction Sales Prices Atom 1 CGC 4.0 - $135 Batman 189 CGC 4.0 - $117 Superman's Girlfriend Lois Lane 70 CGC 4.5 - $150 X-Men 10 CGC 6.0 - $195 Had hoped for a bit more, but could have been worse.
  23. And I had such awesome deals I was about to offer you . Maybe next year.
  24. And Atom #1 is making a comeback. Now 2nd place instead of last place $$$ wise. Will be a huge upset if it passes X-Men #10, but it's making a gallant last day attempt for relevance.
