  1. I'm so confused I'm a newb and would like some more info on what this is and how to enter! Thanks!
  2. Is a signature always required? My first submission is supposed to arrive Monday, but I'll be away in the morning for a few, I hope Fedex leaves it in my package bin for me.
  3. I agree with this, I always buy silver age bag/boards for the extra wiggle room. Some people prefer a tighter fit which you can get from the modern size. It's all personal preference.
  4. Yea thatd be awesome! They should just make a video of at least one comic going through the whole process. They probably have their "secrets" that they don't want their competitive businesses (CBCS/PGX) to know. Even though I'm sure it's a pretty similar process.
  5. Oh yea, I totally forgot the graders don't know whose books they're grading. I would love to watch the full process on what they do.
  6. What years is the Blackhawk #9? There's been a few throughout the years, I'm guessing you're talking about the Golden Age one?
  7. Good point, I guess anything more than a grand for me atm.
  8. Good point! What if CGC grades higher on first submissions to get your hopes up and gets you to come back, but after that they grade normally and tear you a new one. I smell a conspiracy
  9. Very true man, I'll have to get the graders notes and see whats wrong. I'm not too bent out of shape because I was expecting a lot worse over all.
  10. comics.gocollect.com This site has GPA, not sure how reliable it is but you can view basic charts and price average for free, you can subscribe for more detailed info too. Think its $6 a month. Does anyone know if this site is reliable?
  11. Thanks guys! They'll be here Monday tracking says. So I'll post pics/notes if I can get them.
  12. lmao they censored my curse word. I didn't know they did that.
  13. So I just went through the process of submitting for the first time. I submitted 11 books into the Modern tier. I've heard everywhere that CGC grades the strictest, and I was worried my books would come back far under expectations since almost all books I've submitted have been read and had some color breaking. So today they were marked shipped/safe and the grades came in...…. to my surprise they were all graded far higher than expected! One was graded 7 (I expected this because it was clearly no where near mint), 1 was a 9.2, 2 were 9.6, and 7 were 9.8. I am over all ecstatic that they were pretty much all graded NM, but I only have a problem with one grade, and that's the 9.2. It was ASM 361 (1st app Carnage) The comic in my eyes was nearly perfect, it looked far better than 3 of the 9.8s, the spine was flawless, no color breaks. I expected it to get around a 9.6 and the three 9.8s mentioned to get 9.2. I shouldn't person_without_enough_empathy at all because this overall has been way beyond my expectations after reading so many people post "HAHA wait till you get your 1st submission back and have your eyes opened clearing your rose colored lenses" Is there any chance to get grading notes on the 9.2? The only one I can see notes on is the 7, all others don't have a note link. Also has anyone had positive results cracking a slab and getting it pressed and regraded? Moral of the story is I must have horrible grading eyes Just wanted to share my 1st experience, overall things are great, fingers crossed for future slabbings!
  14. Thank you everyone for the advice and replies! Can't wait to dig in, I'm mainly just collect and if something ends up going up in price its a added bonus. I'm usually stingy and wont sell any books unless I'm in dire need for cash. My main focus is in DC golden age, but I also have a high interest in WW2 covers. "Buy War Bonds!" just love it. (Also interested in more "controversial" covers) I'm not worried about condition since it's expected to almost always be a lower grade, just would like a nice looking cover. Thanks again everyone! If there's any books that come to mind that I described, give me a shout!
  15. Hey guys, I would like to ask for some tips on collecting Golden Age comic. I currently don't own any but would love to add some to my collection. I love the art on the older books. So are there any books you could recommend that are great pieces with great covers that wont break the bank? My dream would be Action 1 and the earliest Batman ones, but those are wayyyyy out of my price range at the moment. So any good ideas on where to start? Thanks everyone!
  16. If it received any damage since graded before it could receive a lower grade. Pressing can give you a better grade, but its not a for sure thing. You could always set the price higher because of a signature, but don't expect anyone to buy it. Placement of the signatures could push a person not to buy if the signature covers characters faces and what not. Personally I never purchase a signed book, I prefer my books to be clean and not tainted with exterior ink. To each his own.
  17. I'm new myself and have a quick question. Is it normal to just go from verified straight to graded? I see people mentioning scheduled for grading all the time, but mine went straight to graded under the status (still says n/a under the grades though). Modern tier btw, thanks!
  18. The credit is applied right away. It will still say the dollar amount when submitted, but once they go to charge your credit account they'll subtract your credit first. Hope that helps
