  1. I love Twisted Metal 2, it's probably my favorite PS1 game. That said, this book has been on my want list for ages. Depending on the source, and without getting into availability, it's an easy 4 figure book.

The interiors were posted (and since removed) on a Twisted Metal fan page about 2 years ago. It is very real.

What's the name of that fan page again? I know the one you mean but can't recall what it's called

  2. And it makes no sense to ship via Media Mail anyway since First Class rates went down and weight limits went up.

I keep hearing that the weight limit is higher on 1st class, yet I went to USPS and cannot use it on a 14 oz package. I thought it was 15 oz.

The service everyone hears about is called 'First-Class Package Service' and is not a service available to retail customers coming into a post office - you can only get this service with a commercial account through ebay, stamps.com, etc.. ** It is not the same thing as first class parcel service you are familiar with. First-Class Package Service can be opened and inspected by the post office like media mail is. There are also certain restrictions on what can be mailed at that rate.

I get the option plus discounted postage rates through Paypal shipping. If you've got a Paypal account, you should try it out.

What is paypal shipping? Is it a separate website? And can you purchase it to ship to a transaction done outside of payal or is it only for paypal transactions?

  4. After January 17 2016 the maximum weight for First-Class Package increased from 12.99 oz to 15.99 oz. Also, the rate for First-Class Packages under 8 oz. is a flat $2.60, which simplifies lightweight package pricing.

FYI: That's no exactly true. I heard ebay offers that option, but If you walk into a post office and try to mail 13oz or higher package first class is not available to you and you must pay the priority mail rate.

  6. That Zatara panel almost looks like the cover to Action 8..... if you squint and use your imaginations.

So, in Action Comics, they were reading Action comics.

In Pep comics Archie was reading Pep comics.

But in Captain America Bucky was reading a Marvel Mystery Comic. Nice cross promotion!

I think it would complicate the storyline of Captain America #1 if Bucky was reading the same book with the story itself as he would know about the menacing shadow behind him :gossip:

Action 7 was still 1938 so it was the only title being published then with Superheros in it.

I always liked the Richie Rich cover where he's reading comics out of his safe.

  7. Two people are reading Action Comics in Action Comics #7. One is a villain in the Pep Morgan story and the second person is reading a copy when Zantara comes up to him.

I logged in to mention the panel in the Pep Morgan's story Action Comics was also a bondage panel. Thanks for posting the photos.

  8. I always loved this one:

lol they give you a monkey?! That's amazing, maybe illegal also. Does anyone know if this was true? I know those adds we're exaggerated back then but still... I want a monkey. Train it to grade my comics.

The picture is small, but five Cs could be Cactus, Chair, Carpet, Cage, Cat (I think that might be a cat on the chair) Can't tell what the thing is on the bottom right, but probably another C word. Did they have different puzzles over time or is this a one shot deal?

  9. Nice cover one hundred dollar war bond was big money back then now it's a cup of coffee at Starbucks!

Yep, $100 in 1945 is almost $1,300 now. Not too hard to see why those bonds are hard to come today - plenty of incentive to trade them in.

Actually, the bond was worth less then face value when issued in 1945 - it would take ten years to reach that value. It also earned interest until 1985. (40 years worth)

The Bonds are only redeemable to the person on the bond. A quick ebay search for "series E bond" comes up with several unredeemed ones during the WWII years.

  10. As soon as I saw these today I thought of this thread. I have never seen these before so I thought some of you would be interested in seeing them too.

Didn't Gertrude ever turn her book in for a bond? hm

I guess not. These aren't mine someone in Canada owns them. From what I understand is they are still redeemable, but only at face value as they are non-interest bearing.

  11. Can you decode this message?

    wonderwomancode.jpg

    :roflmao:

Did you Photoshop that or was that Rosetta Stone actually printed in a comic?

That seemed pretty easy. I guess I don't need my decoder for some things. What about this one?

Shoes are rationed so take care of yours dont kick stones or walk in puddles.

Atom's code is a Caesar Cipher. Cracking by hand I get:

The Earth is invaded by underground people

    Good job Darren!

The original decoder was filled with Greek letters but I guess it isn't anymore complicated.

Below is an advertisement for the JJSA, a decoder set for "Wonder Woman" and a message from Wonder Woman 9.

Decoder is from the DC Vault, WW scan picked up on line.

Decoder was apparently owned by Billy Zeel from Beaverton, MI. (:

The decoder seems to be built to be turned, but if that is so the wheel is set correctly to decode that message. It would be interesting to see another coded message, coded by someone other than Wonder Woman to see if the wheel works or needs to be set differently (by rotation)

I never heard of that character. hm

Apparently he was one of those poor university scientists who turned to crime to increase his income.

Here are a few extra pages of All Star 50 that I found on the internet.

Unfortunately my decoder only works on the messages with Greek letters.

I have identified all the comics on the bottom row up to the man's coat. (There are actually two rows, but the other row only has one inch of the cover showing) The comics on the bottom row from right to left are:

    Goofy #42 (Standard)

    The Chief #2 (Dell)

The rack behind the man has two columns of comics the titles in the rack are:
