  1. Batman and his arsenal of villains is the only thing keeping dc together.

I know that sounds opinionated and bordering asinine considering the recent success of aquaman, but if anyone saw aquaman they could see how plagiarized it was. A mythical sea water creature eerily similar to the kraken, he has to pull a trident out oc a stone and they actually call him ki g Arthur at the end,are the writers for dc a bunch of school children?

If you are looking to flip for profit sometime in the future this is not the book I would be looking at major characters or villains that have not made it to the TV or big screen and then be ready to sell the minute that an announcement is made regarding a screen appearance is made. Sometimes there is a very finite amount of people that chase those books. For example Iron Man #219, the first appearance of the Ghost was a $80 CGC 9.8 book (if that), but once it was announced Ghost was to appear in Ant Man it shot up to over $400 for a little bit but the crazies who bought it at that price will never get that money back in my estimation and the book hasn't sold to my knowledge for those prices since September. So strike while the Iron is hot so to speak. I personally just buy for my collection.

Thanks, when I first bought it,it was for my collection. I actually initially went with a 9.4 from a dealer in nova Scotia but now I realise there is no reason to buy anything modern that isn't at least 9.8.

New mutants had the same problem, now its dropping all the time.

    I noticed a Thanos 13 9.8 for 450, I'm thinking of offering the guy 400, but after sunday,comic show. Also a mass produced spawn 1cfor 200 9.8.

Maybe I can get some raw copies.

What about the guy who built the clocktower the riddler is hanging from in batman 491. How come he gets left in the dark, maybe he gets a book where he subcontracts a job and gets burnt on the deal  than there is a long drawn out civil court proceeding in Gotham high court that stretches a few issues. Maybe batman and the riddler get brought on as witnesses to the mans ability to build clock towers. Than say he loses the case and in frustration he aggressively pushes past a court clerk as hes exiting the building than stumbles into a garbage can which in turn goes flying bumps an overweight lady in the back as shes holding her mustard drenched sausage she just purchased from a street vendor and gets mustard on her 2 stitched blouse and in turn her and the architect get into a verbal jousting match in the street before he wins a heated battle of shut the f up

Say his name is Steve, we could call the first issue vengeance of Steve, than the proceeding 5 issues clock fall

    Sound good?

Go in comic store.  Look around for #1 issues.  Buy em all.  Keep repeating thsi every month.  Wait a few weeks and $$$$$ :flipbait:

First appearances too  like that homeless guy on the corner of fifth and main in amazing spiderman 375, they thought they could sneak that one in, but we caught it.

The scratch and sniff variant was good too, a combination of urine, body odor and rotten cheese, exactly why I didn't get my copy graded.

I love Punisher, growing up he was my fav superhero. I wish the value of his comics garnered a lot more value and momentum than they did.

I think the problem is it's not a complex character too write, just a vigilante with a gun, tragic manner in which he became a superhero though.

Maybe if his family had been killed by a group of scientists from asgard that had a bunch of radioactive spiders from space that if they bit you you would shoot spiderwebs, your arms would stretch and instead of rescuing his family he hunted these scientists down in their lab got shot by gamma Ray's and when he woke up his skin was green.

On his way out of the lab he bypassed the lab coat and noticed two suits one that would cause your body to shrink too the size of an ant or the other an indestructible metal trashcan that a drug fuelled rock band would find interest in. He decided on the brass knuckles with cubic zirconia instead and began punching people with it until they told him where his daughter was. Or maybe he told these group of evil scientists he had a certain set of skills that made him a nightmare for guys like them and when he found the lab he had a copy of new world translation of the holy scriptures and it turned out his family actually didn't get killed they had pulled the same move as that girl from king of queens and got there azz away from a gun toting jehovah's witness that eventually found himself driving a motor cycle in flames in space.

You're going to have a hard time finding people to agree that X-men Apocalypse is better than Logan. Logan was an amazing film.  Oscar Isaac miiight agree with you since he played Apocalypse, but I doubt it. He has at least a few brain cells.

A geriatric professor x and a washed up wolverine who seemingly gets the better of his younger self, yeah totally awesome, oscar worthy! Or a film where it takes a group of mutants uniting itself to defeat one bent on world destruction, I must not have many brain cells to be trapped in an argument that has very little to do with what I was trying to say, what I was saying was the vast difference in value between xfactor 6 compared with NYX 3 both first appearance, both vastly different impacts on the marvel universe.

Regarding bolded statement, you are absolutely entitled to your opinion and it’s just as valid as anyone’s...but I’ve honestly never seen anyone say that about either of those movies. Usually the sentiment is reversed...so that’s probably why values seem skewed to you.

    Also, what’s “fa”?

You enjoyed a movie that totally contradicted the x men storyline versus  a movie where x men battled their greatest nemesis, I'm sure you will enjoy the first venom versus the sequel because Riot was such a huge character in the comics. The only problem with apocalypse was dark Phoenix, we all know what happens to Jean grey.

The Logan movie was not good. I don't need box office success to tell me if something is good or not.

It is SO simple, most people just won't believe how simple it is!

Go into any comic book store and you'll see bins and bins of books on sale for a dollar each. Every single comic book store in the country has boxes and boxes of books for a dollar each. This proves the fact that dollar books sell because nobody would continue to restock inventory at that price if they never sell.

I mean like, does Walmart have aisles and aisles of buggy whips and shoe horns? No, of course not. Why not? Answer: because nobody buys that.

Why do comic book stores have so many bins of $1 books? Obviously because that's what people buy!

So - heres what you do:

    1. Buy a big comic book collection, the bigger the better, like 100 long boxes minimum, at an average cost of 20 cents per book. The bigger the collection the lower the price per book, that's the way it works.

    2. Now take all the books that you bought for $0.20 each and sell them for a dollar each.

    3. Profit!!!

    You're welcome.

See ya' round the country club!

I'll quote from this again because it's making me laugh. As a singular object money has no value unless it is spent  so standing alone it is worthless. No ody is going to frame a dollar bill, because nobody is going to stare at it above the mantle piece at the dinner table, but they would stare at a van gogh, because it has value far beyond the reaches of a superficial mind, that's why the only people who made money off of penny stocks were the stock brokers not the who bought the stocks. I would rather put an Albuquerque variant thanos thirteen on my mantle piece than any dollar comic you can think of, why? Because the artistic endeavor into producing that masterpiece stretches far beyond an issue of turok 27.

Adam Smith said it best, the true value if something is how much the buyer is willing to pay for it.

I once began the batman knights quest but quickly grew bored of it because it holds no long term value  and I quickly returned to buying comics of value on the ascension.

Uh that sounds like a contradiction. Generally people would be sold out of things that sell.

Like someone mention buying CGC its for sure grade and currently under grading by CGC. Buying raw you run into sellers over grading and I have learn that the hard way couple times. I can always resell faster slab.

only thing that worries me its CGC saying when you summit a book for reholder they will actually regrade book and will down graded if needed?. old labels are subject to be down graded.

    Thank you guys😊😎

I talked with one if the dealers I work with on ebay, he said both thanos and spawn are bad investments. I'm conflicted though, it's kind of like new mutants 98, its value drops all the time, but it's the first appearance of deadpool. And how come punisher cant gain no momentum? Except fa in amazing spiderman? Even xfactor 6 is dirt cheap and I thought apocalypse was a great movie. And why is NYX 3 so valuable, that Logan movie stunk!

The only way death of robin will increase is if joker killa him in the upcoming joker movie, and the only way for that to happen is if they introduce him in the next justice league. All these different factors come into play, its causing my brain to🤯

Will silver sable and black cat prices moonshot with the upcoming black and silver movie or will raiders fans get all confused?

What about eternals or shang chi, and why is marvel point zero the fa of sam nova, who is a man called nova than. And can gambit catch steam with fa in uncanny x men?

I spend money on comics for two reasons cause its nostalgic and I like too. I have three copies of xforce 11 because I like domino. 2 copies of AMS 361 cause I like too. I balance needs and wants effectively  besides I just had a triple double from tim Hortons I'm a little zuked

New members join the CGC boards everyday, but some just lurk around without saying too much. The point of this thread is to give a heartfelt welcoming, and encourage our new boardies to introduce themselves and say hi.

Hopefully, with your time spent here, you will learn some things, make some friends, and ultimately, enjoy yourselves. (thumbs u

I'll start. I'm Andy. I love DC war comics, but have branched out into every which direction you can think of. Right now, I'm right into Golden Age books and classic covers. :luhv:

Don't be afraid to ask any questions. That's how you're going to learn. :) We do, however, have a search engine, and some people may end up asking you to use it. To save yourself a potential smidgen of ridicule, you could consider trying that first. :foryou:

So, without taking up any more of your valuable time, I'll step back from the podium and pass the microphone to you.

:applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:Welcome to the boards, my friends! :applause::applause::applause::applause::applause:

    Thanks,

I'm new. I love talking comics and getting advice and talking about recent purchases hard to find a place as in depth as here

  13. How come dealers have decided to grade their own comics and sell them for the same price raw as an actually CGC comic graded by actual professionals? Take edge of the spider verse 2 for example an upgraded copy with an opinion asterisk next to it sells for the same price as a 9.6 or even s 9.8

  14. I have yet to delve into anything pre 1980. My most valuable comic is probably amazing sm 361 9.8,hoping it increases exponentially after the next venom movie. Wanting to invest this weekend in some comics over the past ten years, any recommends?

  15. I bought the comic a month ago from a guy in British Columbia for 575 canadian. I'm doing okay though with investing, I scored an x force 11 9.8 at auction for 80 canadian. Just wondering if the investment is profitable  because I do notice amazing 300 has decreased in value and do has new mutants 98.
