I agree...sadly it took along time for mine to develop,for me to see how high risk my behavior actually was,and I still have to challenge my thinking from time to time and...
 

I understand the soldier thing,and the impact of aggressive and violent video games.
Being a soldier suggest unity and togetherness,something that he feels he is lacking here in the group by the cavalier responses he is getting.
This is a good chat site,where nobody would ever steer you in the wrong direction Gabe.

A healthy mind needs a healthy environment to grow.

I told him this along time ago that he has nothing to prove to anyone.
But hopefully some proper guidance will be beneficial to him
Granted the criticism and backlash appear harsh I can see some room for spiritual and emotional growth here.
Clearly Gabe has strong feelings for Sam,evident of his defensive over her and the responses and need for attention.

I agree about the fear.
And this can happen with people who cant see their success,they develop an inferiority complex and look for someone stronger than themselves,but than they can never meet that persons expectations,so it actually makes the complex even worse.
Than they begin to create a false reality for themselves,one that is built on deceit,and the problem with that is,they begin to believe this fable because it protects them from the pain of their lack of self confidence.
What you need to do Gabe is believe in yourself,first and foremost.
Develop a strong work ethic,self love and supreme focus on the goals you want to achieve in life.
But these have to be realistic goals

A-Achievable
R-Relavant,Realistic
T-Time Framed
The goal setting is a strategy
While the steps are the tactics to completing your overall objectives

We are now in the latter (hopefully) stages of a worldwide pandemic known to the world as Coronavirus or Covid19. This virus has had an affect on us all....but from what I have noticed it had brought alot of us on the site closer together, old feuds have been repaired, hatchets have been buried
For myself I have continued to collect...now bringing the journey to the Silver Age....mostly Spideys! And from the advice of friends who have been collecting for longer then I have been alive, it has been a pleasure!

I also think Chris should be applauded for his honesty.
It takes guts to admit to bad choices and decisions, especially when you really don't have to.
He could have spun a load of BS about himself, and no-one would have been any the wiser.
Nobody is perfect, and we all makes mistakes in life. He has turned his life around, and this forum seems to be helping him a great deal, in as much as he has made friends here.
I count myself among them.
I don't suffer fools or BS, but I do know Chris appears to be very genuine, and he has taken criticism on the chin.
He deserves a break. and I'm happy that he has found joy in collecting again, cos let's face it...collecting things you love is awesome.
Chris is a valued member of these forums IMO, and when he first joined here, I got the wrong impression of him.
After getting to know him, albeit only thru' the written word, I know my first impressions were wrong.
I hope maybe one day we will get to meet.
As we say in Liverpool...he is sound.
