  1. Thanks to everyone that commented, I appreciate your taking the time to look at this comic and grading it. I know this is not a rare comic by any means, I will probably not pay to have it professionally graded and will probably just sell it raw. I should hopefully be able to recover the $1.95 I paid for it.
  2. Bought new when first came out. Never read. Bagged and backed and put away until today. First time since then out of the bag for pictures. Thanks for your comments. CGC grade and slab?
  3. Spawn # 1. Never read. Bought new when it came out, bagged and backed since then. First time out of bag for pictures. CGC slab? Thanks for your comments.
  4. I’m the original owner of this comic. Bought it in 1970? Appears to be in pretty good shape. Black Panther. Thanks again for your comments.
  5. I’m the original owner of this comic. Bought it in 1968. Appears to be in pretty good shape. Thanks again for your input.
  6. Thanks everyone for your opinions, it's very helpful. And no there is not a rip on the cover at all, front or back. There is a stain on the back top right corner.
  7. Thanks, I'm the original owner, bought this one in 1966 when I was 11. I have a ton of other Silver age comics, most probably in about the same condition, some in better. I finally retired and am just now getting around to seeing what if anything my comics are worth. Digging them out and looking at them really brings back memories.
  8. Thanks again for all the great comments, It's given me something to think about. About 50% of these comics are original Silver age Marvels that I collected when I was between 7 and 18 when I went in the Army. In 1987 i briefly started collecting again, and collected only #1 issues, almost all Marvel. When I retired from the Army in 93 I again collected, for a short period of time. The reason I am thinking of selling now is that I just retired. I no longer want to hold on to so many comics. I have close to 1000 total, all of them bagged and boarded and stored in the long white comic boxes. They've been in my basement for around 25 years. So I figured I might as well sell, and help finance my retirement. My basement is a mess and I need to move a lot of stuff out of the way in order to find my boxes of comics. As soon as I find my #1 X-men, I will post a picture, along with some others. Maybe my #1 Daredevil, #1 Avengers, and #1 Amazing Spiderman. Boog
  9. Thanks for the comments, I just bought a program called Comic Collector and have started entering the 1000 plus comics in my collection. Once I know what I have, I can make a better decision on which comics if any to get graded.
  10. Hi, I was just on mycomicsshop.com looking around and decided to see what #1 Uncanny X-men were selling for. I happen to own this book and was curious, trying to decide if it's a good time to start selling my collection. They have a #1 Uncanny X-men without a cover that's listed as graded CGC 0.1 that they are listing for $1785! Does this sound right? I'm not sure of what my comic book would be graded at but looking at other examples I've seen, maybe between a 5-7? I want opionions on whether I should get it graded by CGC or just sell it as is? Would the cost of grading be worth it? Would it add that much value to this comic? I have all of the Silver age X-men from #1 thru about #59, all in similar condition. Thanks for any comments!
  11. I have that issue, and remember reading it when I was a kid. I bought and collected the Avengers, and still have a large selection ranging from #1 thru maybe #60 or so. DC
  12. As far as the way they were stored, I kept them on shelves in my room until I went into the Army. Then they spent about 10 years in a box in my brothers house, stored in a dry condition. When I was able to get a hold of them, I took each one and backed and bagged them and put them in comic book collector boxes. They’ve been stored like that for the past 30 years. The last 25 years in my basement after I retired from 20 years in the Army. Most of the comics were read once maybe twice and then not picked up again until I bagged them. I think most are in pretty good shape, probably the biggest issue would be rolled spines from the time when they were all stored together in a big box. I also have several, maybe 500, comics that I bought in the early to mid eighties. For a few years I got into collecting first edition comics, mostly Marvel but also a few DC and Dark Horse. All of the ones that I bought in the eighties were never read, just bought, backed, bagged and put away. I haven’t reasearched the value of those but I would think a lot, even though they would probably get CGC ratings of 9+ DC
  13. Thanks for the responses and suggestions. I need to drag out the boxes of comics and get them sorted I guess. I'll work on that and then post scans of what are probably the most valuable ones. DC
  14. I am new to these forums, but I came across CGC when doing a google search. I read mostly Marvel comics when I was a kid. I did not throw them away like some of my friends and kept all of them. I have mostly Marvel comics ranging from 1964 to 1972 when I went in the Army. I have all various titles, I wasn't picky, pretty much read all Marvel, like Amazing Spiderman, Xmen, Fantastic Fourm, Avengers, Thor etc. All together I have several hundred of these comics; I am retired now and do not want to hang on to these comics any more. My question is, would it be better to just sell the whole collection, or find the ones that are probably the most valuable, like a #1 Amazing Spiderman, #1 FF and sell them separately. Also, for the most valuable ones, how do I know if it would be worth it to have them graded by CGC? Your opinions are appreciated. DC
