A lot of us have books from July sitting there in Economy. So, if you get screwed like us you have several months to go. Cheers if you get lucky. Why is the declared value $1 per book?

Oh good I'm not the only one dealing with this bs.  Hey CGC, here's a tip.  If the turn around time to even start the pressing process for non-fast tracked books is longer than 8 months (what is it now? a year?  Not sure if that was the TAT when I submitted them last July, but oh well) then get rid of the 8 month deadline where is stops tracking the orders.  I thought a whole bunch of new people were hired and improvements were made? I mean that was the justification for price increases, right?

For what feels like the millionth time when dealing with grading companies...COMMUNICATION IS KEY!  Let your customers check status at any time for as long as it takes.  None of this "sorry, now you can't even view your order!" nonsense.

    End rant.

I think transparency is needed when it comes to these long turnaround times. They have books that mean great deals to us. We should be able to know how many orders are in front of us at any given time. They have at least a few thousand dollars worth of my books and it is aggravating that I have no clue if they will be done tomorrow or several months from now. It has been 8 months since the received date plus the month it took for them to open the box.

Exactly. They are basically saying we never promised them so good luck getting anything useful. Especially now that they are giving them away for free there is less incentive for them to be useful. Bunch of garbage.

I think its a fair complaint.  Some others have said they don't care much about grader notes, and for the most part I would agree.  Who really cares what the grader notes say if the book is a 5.5, 6.0, etc.?  But for those books that you send out hoping for a 9.8 or 9.6 worst case that somehow come back as 9.2 I'd like to know the reason why.  Maybe its something that could be pressed out, or maybe its just something the submitter missed.  I think that especially in that 8.5 to 9.4 book range (and more so for modern books) the grader notes are worth something.

The other side to that is I have them seen them use generic notes that are so vague they really do not help. I sent in several books that all got different grades but the notes were all the same "Light stress marks to spine". Cmon bro. Worst copy and paste job I have ever seen. Just mailing it in because they are lazy.

I don't know. reading some of the BBB posts it seems it does make them move a bit. This is so disappointing but revealing. This was a first time submission, a test run to see if I could trust them for additional submissions...and by additional I mean a couple hundred over the next few years. I'm not ready for the grave yet but with no relatives interested to pass my collection along to, I planned on grading the best of my 6000+ collection so it was easier to dispose of when the time comes (hopefully in a couple decades down the road!!!). So much for Plan A...

I think if you just do fast track you won't have these issues. Yes, it is a bit more but at least you will have your sanity. After these last few submissions I will not do slow submissions any more. I will have to get used to a little less profit but at least my books will come back relatively fast. I would easily pay the fast track on the books I still have there if I could in hindsight.

So here's an update on my 23 books - emailed CGC about them right after I posted - No response - 3/28 called customer service - they agreed they should have been already graded, said they sent email to grading team for an update (after no one at grading answered the phone) promised to update me via e-mail. No response all week called on 4/1, again told should be in for grading, promised follow-up. So far nothing but I'll give it another couple days ...did I mention they charged my credit card in February? If I don't hear anything this week, I'll be filing a complaint with BBB. This is unbelievable....

If they have this much frustration on their own chat board do you really think they care about the BBB? I highly doubt it. I wish the answer was simple enough to go to their competition but CBCS has major issues as well. I am under the impression if you do not fast track your books you might as well forget about your books and be surprised when they eventually arrive.

PSA (the sports collectible industry's largest grading service) and Beckett (the second-largest card-grading company) both suspended their services last year in order to get control over their turn around times.  I believe PSA completely suspended all submissions, and Beckett shut down their Economy, Standard, and Express tiers, and were only accepting submissions at their Premium tier.

Also, both WATA and VGA currently have several of their tiers for video game grading suspended in order to get things under control as well.  WATA has closed its Select tier for both sealed and Complete-In-Box (open) games....as well as its Turbo tier for C.I.B. games only.  VGA has closed both its Economy and Express tiers.....and is accepting submissions only under their Premium and Archival tiers.

C'mon, CGC is now co-owned by Jay-Z. He has 99 Problems but turnaround times ain't one.

Labels? Or no Labels? Just wondering if it makes a difference? It shouldnt but....

To be honest if I was reselling a book I would just go regular label. Although some people like the labels, a lot of people I have talked to would rather have all of their books match. I try to appeal to the majority and I think most people would rather have the regular labels. I don't mind the labels but I would not pay any more for them if there were 2 exact books and one had custom labels versus regular.

??? When they say you don't get 3 graders you don't believe you don't get 3 graders?

No. The part about at least 2 graders per book. I don't buy it. Pre-Covid they did a convention with on-site grading. They gave an estimate of how many graders they had at the show and about how many books were graded that weekend and the math just did not work out. There is no way they could have done that kind of volume if 2 graders looked at every book. It was definitely suspect.

They still have 3 graders on every book I assume.  I would be very concerned if it were just one person doing the grading.

Sorry but I do not buy that 3 graders look at EVERY book. Maybe on Golden, Silver and Bronze but on a brand new modern book I highly doubt 3 graders are looking at it and counting the pages. Just my personal opinion. They are not very transparent so until I see proof I am going to assume moderns are looked at by 1-2 people at most.

    Reholder

    Shipped 08/07/2021

    Today 03/15/2022

    :pullhair:

    220 days and waiting.

Approximately 19,008,000 seconds and still waiting.

I am beginning to wonder if the OP is still waiting on the books he submitted back in 2012.  (shrug)

They go by working days which is around 145 days but that is till a crazy amount of time for a reholder.
