A friend of mine wanted to watch Episode 1 of 'Willow' the other night, so we watched it.  Despite enjoying the original film and the concept behind the fantasy story, I had three major issues with the pilot:

    1. The writing is quite poor.  Bland, cliched, superficial.

    2. The acting is worse, especially the actor who plays the princess.

    3. The editing is worse than either the writing or the acting -- "atrocious" is the word that comes to mind.  Worst editing I've seen in years.

Avoid at all costs, or at least be willing to give the pilot a pass and see if it improves in episodes 2 and 3.  Good luck!

Well said.  I love the original movie but this series is beyond bad. What are they thinking…got about half way through episode 2 and couldn’t handle it anymore.

    Darth Vader 3 Variant

    CGC 9.8

So this isnt a 9.8. CGC straight up got this grade wrong. With the color rub and the cbc spine tick and ncb bend on the bottom of the spine...it just isnt a 9.8. I can not sell it as a 9.8

    $350

I wont be accepting returns on this one. Ive been very clear that it isnt what the label says it is so there arent any surprises.

    I’ll take the Vader 3 9.8

but seriously...there is no actual reason tied to anything quantifiable (such as production scarcity, error variants, warehouse finds, etc). I have yet to see anyone provide actual production numbers or ANY data for many of these high priced VHS that pass the sniff test and are not simply conjecture. It's often easy for one to fall into the trap of thinking a lack of data might suggest rarity (for example, it's easy to find the numbers for Temple of Doom VHS which was released in the same year as the Goonies VHS. Temple sold 1.4 million units that Christmas, so one might think Goonies wasn't picked up as much and thus it is now rare). Likewise I cannot find a hard date when the VHS went out of print (which is important)

The only reason I can thus far sus out seems is general crazed nostalgic speculation by those driving the VHS craze. Remember it was only recently (2017) added to the National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” and the film’s overall tone and themes can be found in most of the recent 'hot' Hollywood properties, most notably in the likes of Stranger Things and the IT! remake, productions that have sparked the retro revolution and a fondness for all things 80s. Goonies is a movie that diehard fans might feel has been 'under appreciated' by the general public (in contrast to other very popular series like Star Wars or Back to the Future) and so both feels 'rare' by comparison and also ripe for a resurgence (especially once those young fans of Stranger Things and other 80s callbacks start to gain their own nostalgia and look back for other media).

While it’s worth a lot for sure I doubt that offer is legit.
