GA With Less Than Ten Copies in the CGC Census
Dick Pontoon replied to circumstances's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
I'm not an expert by any means on Baker, but this sure looks like Coletta to me... I see nothing but Colletta on this cover. -

Is it true - destroying comics to create rarity???
Dick Pontoon replied to jcjames's topic in Comics General
Really, who cares? This is just one of dozens of a single RETAILER variant, not the original DC press run that will be for sale everywhere nor even one of the dozen publisher variants that will be for sale. Who cares if Joe Blow’s Comic Shop orders 2,500 with their logo on the cover and destroys the other 2,320 copies? Who cares if they destroy even 2,499 copies of it? Wow, there’s only 1 existing copy of Tec #1000 with Joe Blow's logo on it. BFD. My apologies to those who collect variants. I’ve seen publisher variants with covers I liked better than the regular issue, but to be up in arms about a manufactured collectible retailer variant seems absurd. -
Oldest Original Owner Collection
Dick Pontoon replied to Marty Mann's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Hey Marty. Glad to see you posting here again. My impression from the forum across the street was that folks aren't as interested in older books. -
In general, proper restoration of a comic takes many, many hours at high hourly rates. Unless you have a big, rare key worth at least several thousand dollars, you’re better off putting the money towards an unrestored copy.

Restoration
Dick Pontoon replied to Ahsoka Tano Jedi Apprentice's topic in Comic Book Grading and Restoration Issues
What's the book? Every restored book is going to take a it in value, but a big key is going to be more resilient and maintain more worth. -

I forgot to put in a real bid after my initial tracking bid on the book I was looking at. Oh well. -
Should sellers leave prices up on sold books?
Dick Pontoon replied to mackenzie999's topic in Comics General
I shouldn't answer for Bob lest he bring his wrath and bowling ball down upon my noggin, but I THINK he meant problem solved for HIM. I always leave prices up since I like to be able to see what books sold for myself. I never understood the rationale of deleting the price after a sale. However, it’s a non-issue. The last thing we need is yet another rule for selling. -
