  1. I love these labels. I am a newer collector but in my 30s. I think they make the presentation look better. Just my humble opinion.

    Wishlist:

Miles Morales, Spider Gwen, FF (which is way overdue), Thanos

    Bring Back:

Avengers, Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Daredevil

    Please Keep:

    All in existence right now.

Won't Happen but would be cool:

Villains like Kingpin, Red Skull, Loki, Doom, Sinister Six, Knull, X-Men villain cluster to counter the hero cluster as I call it. Throwing some out there.

And I get the thought that it takes away from the art. So I do like the option component of it. Both fans for and fans against can both get what they want. This is what makes collecting fun right? We all do what makes us happy.

  2. I know there are no plans to bring back retired character labels like Thor or Captain America, but what can we do to get some new ones in the future? I know they are not for everyone but I love those labels. I have been holding a stack of books with the hopes that these labels come back at some point in time. In 2019 there were staggered releases. So far in 2020 only that first release. Anything in the pipeline? I love those labels. It sounds silly but thats one of the reasons I choose CGC. Thank you.

I've got a submission that was delivered on 8/13 and just showed up as received today. It is a fast track and the box was marked as such.

My Economy Fast track box was delivered on 8/10 and showed up into their system as Received last night around 5:30CST. I should have marked the box fast track. Either way, I don't like that the clock doesn't officially start until its in their Received status, I lost 5 business days on a 13 day turnaround. Oh well. It won't kill me to work on my patience.

  4. Use Painters tape when securing your books. Cannot stress that enough. Do not use scotch tape. It makes the receiving dock have to cut things open and takes longer and they have a ton of boxes to open. Make it as easy for them as possibly. I put my books in a CGC bag (That came on the outside of a gladded slab), then I tape that shut with Painter's tape and a pull tab. Then I tape USPS Priority cut up boxes to the top and bottom, again with Painter's tape with pull tabs. Then I bubble wrap both sideways and longways. Zero cutting is involved with this method and the box can be opened quickly and checked in without unnecessary handling by the people on the dock. If you only get one thing from this post, its always use Painter's tape (The blue tape). Cheap bags and boards are fine as long as they are clean. Also, rotate your books so the spines do not all align up. One book right side up, then the next "upside down" so the spine is on the other side. Then back to right side up, etc.

anyone else still waiting for their Crain books?  Mine still say "Received 6/9/20".

I am but thats because its being held to ship with my Frank Miller book (hopefully this week).

Crain signed books on June 3rd and 4th I think though. If your book didn't get there until after the signing, you might want to check with customer service. They have always been good to deal with in my experience.

I see. So did you call or email CGC to get that info about the CCS dates?

I’m impatient too, but part of the problem is that we’re like moths to a flame when given a status listing. I mean it says Received now, but who knows what it might say 37 seconds from now, right??

Hoping you get that bump man!

Oh for sure! It is Moths to a flame. I have hit refresh more times in the past two weeks than ever before with various orders.

I had another signed book from Clayton Crain that wasn't shipped out and I thought it was odd but I shipped in with my Frank Miller book. So I emailed asking when the Crain was going to ship because its been in Graded/QC for over a month. The guy was really nice about it saying they were holding it so it would ship together with my Frank Miller book which had already gone to CCS as of 7/16. Thats my "inside" information.

Has your submission status updated at all?  Mine is still listed as received and been that way since they received in early June.

Mine is "received" since 5/21. The books went to CCS on 7/15-7/16 so 3 weeks would put us around Aug 5th-6th. But what can I say, I'm impatient. Plus I am crossing my fingers that my book Daredevil 168 gets bumped from a 9.6 to a 9.8 with a pressing.

Shipped a value shipment of 25 books on 7-14-20, received by CGC on 7-17-20, and shipped back 7-23-20! Never had a turnaround that quick. Amazing

If you have silver age books to grade, now is the time. It’s a different set of graders with nothing to do.
all us Modern schmucks are waiting in line.
