  1. The prize thread is in Comics General. Follow the link below. Please consider donating a prize, even if you're not doing that well. You certainly don't have to, but the more donations, the more people get a chance at picking a prize.
  2. You know it Frankie. Feeling good about round 4, but don't quite want to celebrate yet. smart move
  3. Well, I can assure you that if there were any notes on the label, such as 'cover detached' or 'centerfold detached', I would tell you. I would also comment on any kind of major flaw that wasn't visible in the scan, like spine is split 3/4 of the way up the book. Although still very important, I wouldn't be describing any minor flaws like 1/2" tear on right side, 1" spine split at top, etc... The saving grace will always be that you all are going off the same scan and the same information that I am giving you. So, it should still be considered an even playing field. With all of that being said, you still can't grade a book from a scan. To properly grade, you have to have the book in hand. In this case, this is just an exercise of fun.
  4. Round 4: Your grades/guesses are due by 10:00 PM EDT on Wednesday, August 9th. Book 7: Star Wars #107 White Pages Book 8: Strange Adventures #50 Off-White Pages
  5. True Aviation Comics Digest #1 CGC 6.5 Baloo and Little Britches #1 CGC 8.0
  6. If you're off by 3 or more points, you will score -1. The "mods notified" thing is just a long standing joke. The mods are never notified.
  7. I think the number of bulls-eyes is up this round.....
  8. 9.0 to 9.4 is off by two grade increments. 5.5 to 6.5 is off by two grade increments. While this may not seem fair to you, this is the numbering system that CGC uses. In this case, it's only fair for us to use this system as well. If we used the 100 point system, then yes, you could guess 5.9 and potentially be off by .4 on those lower grades.
  9. Couldn't agree more about it's still anyone's game. With 16 books left for grading, that's a ton of books and a ton of chances to zoom up the leaderboard! Don't be discouraged, people....you must carry on!
  10. The Western Thrillers book was very solid in hand. I felt it would be a 6.0, maybe a 6.5, but that scuffing on the bottom spine f.c was the major issue with it. In regards to the Astonishing Tales, I felt there was a chance I would get 9.2. So, obviously very pleased with the 9.4. The defects don't show badly when the book is in hand. Looks like many did well this round. Excited to see the results thread.
  11. Round 3: Your grades/WAGs are due by 10:00 PM EDT on Monday, August 7th. Book 5: True Aviation Comics Digest #1 Cream to Off-White pages Book 6: Baloo and Little Britches #1 White pages
  12. I'd have to agree with Westy. Assume the books were pressed. Not all of them were, but some or most, likely were, so it's easiest to say assume they all were. I just leave that sentence up in the rules, year after year. I really don't know much about dry cleaning, so I wouldn't assume anything was dry cleaned.
