  1. We've had someone submit grades and get double bulls-eyes!!! Hint: I gave them the graemlin.
  2. At the end of every round, I will show everyone the books in their CGC cases, and you'll be able to see the grades. Shortly after I reveal the grades, sckao (Shin) will post the leaderboard, among many other spreadsheets, showcasing many different statistics of the contest. This is the best part, IMO. You'll see.
  3. It's incredible how much sckao does behind the scenes. No joke!
  4. Book 1: Our Army At War #84 Small Scans: Large Scans: Book 2: Walking Dead #1 Small Scans: Large Scans:
  5. Hello, my friends! Welcome to the 4th annual CGC Green Eggs Grading Contest. 1.) You will see 2 books per round, for 10 rounds. 2.) There will be a 48 hour time limit between rounds. (I will likely change this to a set finishing time, ie. rounds end at 10:00 PM EST, going forward.) Look at the books; figure out the grades and PM sckao and I your answers via the group PM that I have created for us. This will be the same PM thread you will use to submit all future grades. Please do not create a new PM for each grade submission. If you have not received a PM from me, and have signed up, please let me know right away. 3.) No changing of grades will be allowed once submitted. Post only single, numerical grade for each book. If you post more than one grade (e.g. 8.5/9.0) then your submission for that round will be void. No excuses. As there will be 2 books per round, make it clear which grade is for which book. For example, say ASM #1 4.5 and on the next line say FF #12 8.0. Please don't screw this up. 4.) The page quality and any noticeable defects you can not see on the book from the scan will be given for each round. Do not PM with questions. Assume that all of the books have been pressed. The scans that you are viewing will be of the book already in its CGC case. 5.) Points awarded will be as follows; 5 points for a direct hit, 3 points for 1 grade off, 1 point for 2 grades off and -1 point for 3 grades off. If you are 4 grades off or more, I'm going to hit the "notify moderator" button. 6.) Prizes will be awarded to a certain number of players. This will be dependent on the number of prize donations that we receive. Feel free to donate a book, if you would like. The PRIZE THREAD is located in Comics General. Also,a booby prize will be given for last place. Last place is defined as the person who has participated in all the rounds and has the lowest score. You can not sign up, do nothing and win the booby prize. 7.) As always, many thanks to sckao who has agreed to help me with the score keeping and all the other fun stuff that comes with these contests.
  6. Mid five fig salary for a FedEx driver sounds right, but six fig for a driver??? Probably six for their pilots. multiple drivers I know make 6 figures From stealing packages and selling the contents?? That's sickening!!!!
  7. Has the seller given no explanation whatsoever as to delays? When was the last communication from the seller? Hi Bob, He sent a PM that he forgot to ship and would express the package when he got back (Monday). Tuesday and Wednesday went by, nothing. I sent a PM late Wednesday afternoon, he read it, but did not respond. 5 days. I received my superman page. I hope your book shows up.
  8. I won this beautiful Russ Heath painting from the auction at the dinner. It's dated 1946!
  9. The 21st War Comics Summit! The pizza was delicious! The boys and girl at the table: Meeting Russ Heath: Russ signing some books and my Overstreet for me: Me, Matt Ballesteros, and Mr. Russ Heath:

  11. I'll post some pics as well, but I don't know if there will be any better ones than Chag's (Mervin's). I had an absolute blast this trip. I was only at the show for the tail end of Wednesday, but I did get all of Thursday and all of Friday in. The highlight was meeting the legend, Russ Heath. He was very kind and accommodating. A funny guy, as well. I sure hope he is able to make another go of it next year. He's 90 (or nearly 90) right now, and mobility is appearing to be an issue. I'm so proud of him for coming out this year and extremely thankful as well. I bought a gorgeous painting of his in the auction at the war comics banquet. 70 years old!! I'll post it later. I bought a few more little sketches and prints from him later on in the night. I've been to this dinner twice now, and it has always been a lot of fun. Mick has chosen a great venue and puts on a fun show. 20 years, wow!! Take a friggen bow, Mick! --the show was great as well. I heard the show wasn't very good for comics, but I found quite a lot. Picked up a really sweet OFF 71 on the Friday. Andy
  12. It was great!! Will comment more when I get back.
  13. Matt is a boardie as well, but I can't remember his handle. He's a voyeur---he likes to watch.
  14. GPA records results from eBay and pretty much all the large auction houses (except Comiclink) Comiclink refused to partner with GPA because they have many new breaking records on sales. My books were sold via Comiclink. One book was sold for over $8K that was nearly 3 times higher than I expected. GPA may be irrelevant. Comiclink may have had great sales that have broken records, but I believe that they refused to partner up with GPA because of their poor record-breaking sales.
  15. San Diego Comic Con Or your local comic shop, providing they ordered it. There were 1000 hardcover copies and 1000 softcover copies printed.
  16. For any of the DC war fanatics who's planning to pick up a copy of the Overstreet guide for this year, I guess it's going to be the limited edition Sgt. Rock cover for you guys then. An absolutely gorgeous Sgt. Rock cover by Russ Heath and definitely better than the standard edition Harley Quinn and Power Girl covers by Amanda Conners. Especially since this limited edition cover is going for the same price as the standard edition covers. Gonna get my copy next week!
  17. i can't bring myself to do craigslist. with my luck the first one i go out and visit chops my head off with a machette. Yeah, maybe, but after that it'll probably be fine.
  18. I'm going to have a CGC-graded book sale coming up at 11:00 PM EST today. Check the G/S/B section.
