Thank you for that, but that isn't the issue that I am having.  I already have custom sets established.  The system is not allowing me to add any new comics at all to any set, established or custom.  That's where I am getting the error.

I have a stack of comics that I need to add to the database and my sets, and as the pile grows my wife is getting more suspicious and angry, so any help would be fantastic!  :)

    lol

  2. Howdy!

I just purchased three books through Heritage that have the same issue. I have emailed CGC to ask for help. These were also variant covers for comics released in the past 2 years.

This has happened to me once before a long time ago. The explanation they had back then was that the certs only go into the system once every book in the grading order has been graded and sent back to the submitter. Example would be that I submit 10 books and 1 is taking longer than the rest for some reason. They ship out the 9 books to me, however the certs will not go into the database until all 10 books have been graded and released. This explanation makes zero sense to me since the usually hold all books before they ship back to the seller but it was the one they gave me.

    I would email CGC support.

    Good luck!

  3. hi @jstam!

What would be the best way to create a character set that spans a number of different titles? My example would be Doctor Fate: I would want to include the Immortal Doctor Fate 1986 mini, 1987 mini and 1989 series. Should I request sets for each title or can I request a set for a character and add additional series to it over time? What would be easiest for you? Thanks!

  4. Found my first bug. I am not able to request a new set where the comic certificate number starts with a 0 ie. 0959306001. Error message is "Value must be greater than or equal to 1000000000"

Also, I am not seeing the newly created sets in the dropdown menu but I imagine it might take a day or two to refresh. Loving it so far!

  5. The registry is definitely not a price guide but the points system is loosely based on Overstreet prices. Books with white pages are valued higher. I don't suggest lowering scores for OWW etc. but there should be positive scaling for page quality. Nobody loses points but slight increases for page quality which is already in the code and part of the grading system.

Imagine two competing complete sets where one has all OWW and the other WPs. The scores being identical makes zero sense.

  6. Grading by its' very nature is subjective. If we follow through with your argument then there is no real basis for the point system at all. Either the grading means something (including page quality) or it doesn't. Obviously it does or we would not be here or worried about points at all!

Furthermore, a change in points for page quality would probably be an easy change in the coding

  7. Registry points should absolutely be assigned based upon market value. It is the only fair way. It doesn't have to be dollar for dollar so maybe 60% of 3 year average price to keep a big buffer for market gyrations.

The purpose of a dollar is to be a universal unit of exchange. This translates to almost every part of our daily existence and this should extend to the registry.

However, I do also heartily support points being given to sets on top of the individual comics for % completed, % with pictures and % with descriptions.

That is how you do it
