Please help me estimate a grade for this book: Wundergirl #19 from Germany, 1977 Wonder Woman was named Wundergirl (simply translates to Wonder Girl) in Germany back in the day for whatever reason. Some of these books had something called “Sammelecke” (engl. “collector’s edge”), which you could remove from the book, collect and send in to get some goodies. This is missing from this book’s last page. At least it was cut somewhat properly. You can see it in the pictures. Could you tell me, how this would affect the grade?

While cleaning up my eBay account I just realized, I bid on that one too. No worries though, I didn’t drive up the final price.

Finally it arrived. My favorite variant of “The Last Ronin” by Mason with Eastman’s “default” remark.

I didn’t add pictures or more details about the book that raised this question. I wanted a more general discussion. Which worked quite good. Thanks for that too. In this particular case though I’m going with the 9.0 because the overall appearance of the book is way better than the 9.4 and the price is closer to the GoCollect estimate.

This time I have the book in hand already. Makes it easier to provide good pictures. Wundergirl #1, 1981 It’s again issue #1, but this time from the year 1981. The German series restarted from 1 with every new year. It also took some years before Wonder Woman was actually named Wonder Woman in Germany. In the beginning she was strangely called “Wundergirl” (a mixture of German and Englisch which simply translates to “Wonder Girl”). This is what I’m hoping for:

For the first time I’m looking for an older book - a classic Wonder Woman from the 70ies. Now I found two offers and I’m not sure which one to pick. They are both in the same price range - only about 40 USD difference. The first one is: CGC 9.4 white to off-white pages The other one is: CGC 9.0 white pages Now I’m not sure which book to go for. Are there any hard or soft reasons why to choose one over the other? I tend to grab the one with white pages, but I don’t know why. The scans of both books look very similar.

After lots of negotiations with the seller and als noting that their estimation might be a bit “too good”, we agreed on an okayish price. I send an offer. They let the auction end without taking it. Afterwards they said “Just send the money.” No automatic purchase contract or eBay protection anymore, yeah right. I asked what the problem is. The reply was a very unfriendly listing of the transaction fees and ensuring me, that I’ll still get the book. If I learned something from the CGC forum in the last year, then it’s to move on, if something seems not to be working out in a good way. So I did that. Long story short, I did learn a lot from your replies about the details I have to look into when estimating a grade. That alone was super helpful. So thanks again for your participation.

I have an offer for this book. And as it’s quite high, I want to check back with you guys. The book is Wundergirl #1, which is the German version of Wonder Woman 212. These pictures are all I got. The seller is unwilling to send more, but is happily arguing why he can’t do so. Seems to be a normal behavior with German sellers, I learned through a couple of requests in the last weeks. I wanted to check whether there are graded copies out there of this book: Vampirella #7 Warren Louw cover Dynamite After some research I found that the book is not only called “Vampirella” but “Vengeance of Vampirella” and the actual issue number is not #7 but “v2 #7”. Which one is the Warren Louw cover variant?

Hm, that simple. But if there are more and more copies coming to the market with high grades, why not wait and buy for less. But I guess it’s the concern that also all the held back books might not meet the demand. That ASM #300 is crazy. Over 20k graded copies. But it absolutely supports the “Supply vs. Demand” claim. I never thought that the collectors market is that huge for key issues. Thank you both. I guess I’ll hold onto my two Dective Comics 1000 Alex Ross Variants, signed and graded, a little longer then.

I started a small comic collection last year with some recent books and covers I really like. At some point I came across this book: Batman Adventures #12 1st appearance of Harley Quinn I do like the cover and thought: Why not add it to my collection. So I started looking for it and was very surprised: 9.8 graded books go for 1,000-1,200 USD and 9.6 for around 650 USD at the moment. Now, you see I’m fairly new to the comics market but I thought: Maybe it’s about this 1st appearance thing. Then I took a look at the census: Currently there are 844 copies with 9.8 and 1,308 with 9.6 and counting. Most of the books listed in the last months on eBay are graded within the last year. So it seems more books in very good quality are available. Can someone explain, what makes this issue so super expensive even so there are sooooo many graded copies? Thank you.

I bought a very rare, signed and graded book from Ron. The communication was very good and trustworthy. The book was packed really well for its long travel to Germany. The condition was as described and everything worked out really well. Thank you very much again.
