  1. Addendum: Rock Thunder may have been a crude prototype of the White Mask, (AKA Speed Savage) The book screams Canadian, right down to the Maple Leaf on Rock Thunder’s Chest. Rock Thunder's costume with boots and the two guns is very similar to the later costume donned by Speed Savage. The tome is uber-rare, with only one other known copy in existance in a private collection. Note Canadian Ace Hi Action under Title and Ted Allan Steele's initials under Rock Thunder....TAS now look at the Speed Savage One-Shot with the cover rendered by Ted Steele Canadian Ace of Action
  2. Thank you Jon. I am very excited to acquire this book. Thank you for making it available. it will be a pinnacle in my collection

  6. Originally "sold" on Ebay $1500.00 USD with the Buy It Now (one of Bruno's books) This is obviously an outlier sale/anomaly but nevertheless, insane Link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Three-Aces-Comics-V2-8-Anglo-American-1943-CANADIAN-EDITION-/351156940286?hash=item51c295adfe:g:HxgAAOSwxH1T~gJ~ Now relisted by Bruno on EBAY and dropped to $1000.00 http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Three-Aces-Comics-V2-8-Anglo-American-1943-CANADIAN-EDITION-/351795300689?hash=item51e8a24951:g:HxgAAOSwxH1T~gJ~
  7. Come to think of it, it's also pretty good evidence that not many sold at the steep initial price. Why else re-price all the way down to 15c at retail? The 15c "in Canada" remains curious though. I'm thinking that somewhere out there is a copy with a pence sticker as well. Yes, this makes perfect sense. Consider the New York Worlds Fair comic of 1939 that was initially priced at 25 cents and was later reduced to 15 cents with a 15 cent sticker on the cover accordingly. In fact, they included a copy of SUPERMAN # 1 in order to make up the difference to those who paid the full 25 cents originally
  8. Perhaps not that many were printed or sold..... Interesting to note that the Action Stories of the Mounties One Shot is very COMMON in comparison with the Canada Jack One-Shot
  9. There was a coupon available to mail out for the Canada Jack one-shot in a few copies of Canadian Heroes. The price was 25 cents

  12. This is just ridiculous Sold on Ebay $1500.00 USD with the Buy It Now (one of Bruno's books) This is obviously an outlier sale/anomaly but nevertheless, insane Link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Three-Aces-Comics-V2-8-Anglo-American-1943-CANADIAN-EDITION-/351156940286?hash=item51c295adfe:g:HxgAAOSwxH1T~gJ~
  13. Hey Ivan, I'd urge you to reconsider. The books are rare enough and trade rarely enough that the 'outdated on the day in comes out' has less sway than for most comics. If it were me I'd publish a checklist only without prices at all, but if you're going to have prices, you might as well use the greatest set of auction data... well, ever? I concur... forget doing a price guide...
  14. In 1980 I bought an OSPG. I read it and read it. I remember reading one section called "The 1979 Market Report" (starting on page A-16). In the report the author spoke of the market for "giveaway" comics and talked about a priest who had showed up at the Philadelphia Comic Convention with a brief case containing 6 copies of "Blood is the Harvest" and 7 copies of "If the Devil Would Talk". I immediately wanted a copy of that latter book. Years later I did buy a copy of this book, however, I also learned that there was a B&W version with very few known to exist. The collector in me wanted to one day own one of those B&Ws. I want to officially thank Stephen (eccomic) for posting (in this thread) the link to the copy that sold tonight on Comic Connect. If not for him, it is doubtful I would have ever noticed this treasure up for sale. Stephen did not have to take the time to post that link for me. He could have just moved on and not worried about a fellow board member. Thankfully, Stephen is a stand up guy who looks out for others. I am constantly amazed at the people on this board who take time to answer questions, help others find comics, cheer other members on as they search and bid on a grail, and generally look out for the welfare of other board members. This board is a great place to be. I am thankful and blessed to be a part of it. I hope that I can contribute as much back to the board and its' members as I have received from them. Thanks again to Stephen. I am just glad I could help. Thank you for your kind words
